The SEC has sued LSU citing the freedom of association aspect of the 1st amendment, essentially arguing that LSU can't force the SEC to associate with conduct (being a pro) that it disapproves of. Seems odd, but apparently this is the argument that worked with the Sorsby case so, as always: who fucking knows

Edit: this case seems specific to football, but I'd assume it would also apply to basketball as well if decided in the SEC's favor

Well, the Tar Heels are definitely going all-in on basketball in the brave, new NIL world. Going to be interesting to see how it all works out (or not).

With Gonzaga gone, the Redhawks might return to March Madness within the next 10 years.

Everything’s getting lit up about two NFL players who I’ve never heard of coming back to play in college, so I had this thought: What happened to the HS players that took some poor advice and decided to go the pro route instead and avoided college (and therefore have four years eligibility)

1. LeBron — He’d go to Ohio State.
   
2. Kobe Bryant — Duke and Carolina were interested in him, so let’s go Duke, just to piss off Carolina fans.
   
3. Kevin Garnett - Michigan (it was between Michigan and UNC, so we’re going Michigan, although the choice is, er, not great)
   
4. Tracy McGrady — Kentucky, because he thought about playing there.
   
5. Dwight Howard — Nobody, because he didn’t want to go to college.

I'm looking specifically for the UT Rio Grande Valley vs McNeese State Southland Conference Semifinal in 2026 where they went into triple overtime. I like to rewatch the games and I cannot find the full replay anywhere. I've checked the ESPN app a dozen times and no luck.

Some tough breaks for several freshman this offseason.

OSOC is a metric that has correctly predicted something like 17 of the last 18 tournament champions (I think it might be 18 of the last 19 now after Michigan). It stands for “one seed or Connecticut” and posits that the winner will either be a one seed or the University of Connecticut. The only non-OSOC winner in recent history is 2016 Villanova, who won as a two seed. Who do you think is most likely to end the streak this year? So this is a school you think will not receive a one seed but has a chance to win the tournament.

I just wanna talk about something other than eligibility guys…
