Good bars/nightlife for people in their early 20s in Castle Rock?

My girlfriend and I (both 23) just moved to Castle Rock and we’re planning on going out with some friends Friday night. We’re still pretty new to the area and don’t really know where people our age go out around here.

Are there any good bars or nightlife areas in Castle Rock (or nearby) that usually have a younger crowd on Friday nights? Ideally somewhere lively where we could bar hop, grab drinks, and be around other people in their 20s or so.

Open to downtown Castle Rock or anywhere nearby if there’s a better area for nightlife. Any recommendations would be appreciated! Thank you.

Good tax and accounting firms in CR

Without disparaging a particular business, I’ve had a bad experience this year and need a good, solid tax service. Taxes are getting quite complicated now. Let me know who y’all recommend. Thanks!

Reputable EV Service Center?

Not sure I want to pay dealership prices for EV maintenance intervals. Any recommendations for EV shops in the area? Bonus points for Lexus/Toyota techs.

SMDH. Zero need for this camera. Do you really need to see the cardiac arrest or twisted ankle? Can you not just take someone's word on the phone. Your tax dollars funding mass surveillance.

Run Club? Or any groups to join

Kinda going through it in life. Focusing my free time towards running and getting in shape. Just celebrated 50 days sober over the weekend but dont have many friends/ppl out here these days (34/M). Are there any running clubs or social groups that meet up on Wednesdays/Sundays? I work until 630p every other day if there are evening runs around town that late. Anywhere in Douglas County works. Thanks!

Monument to Castle Rock?

My husband and I are considering moving from Monument to Castle Rock in the next couple of years, and I’d love some input from people who live there!

For some context, we’re 28 and 29, expecting our first baby, and currently own a townhouse in Monument. I work in Denver, while my husband currently works in the Springs, but his job is projected to bring him to Denver within the next couple of years. We’re hoping to eventually find a single-family home in a neighborhood with a strong sense of community where we can actually get to know our neighbors and make friends. Our current neighborhood has a lot of rentals and pretty constant turnover, so it doesn’t really have the neighborhood/community feel we’re looking for.

We’ve looked at a few homes in The Meadows and really liked the vibe! We’re also curious about what Castle Rock is like for young families — things to do with kids, neighborhood events, parks, pools, etc.
Our budget for our next home would be around $650–700K. We’d love to hear about any neighborhoods you’d recommend (or ones you’d avoid) that fit what we’re looking for!
We also lean to the conservative side and are not religious if that makes any difference. Thanks!!

Things are getting Strange in King Soopers

I went to King Soopers on Ridge Road yesterday afternoon around 3 or 4 pm. I noticed at least 2 people roaming around that looked homeless and on something. Before you judge me, no I didn't run to management.

They didn't seem to be bothering anyone but just for awareness this was not outside of the store but inside. Were they running a scam? Or just trying to stay dry (it was raining) qho knows.

One was walking around like Frankenstein, you know stiff legged and a stare with no basket. Like legit, no bend to the knees.

Later I see a different guy, he has a cart but it was fulled with his belongings in it not food. He had a button shirt open with his belly rolls and full chest out on display. Clearly he was on something his eyes were black , like horror movie black.

He seemed to be walking randomly but when I stopped to talk about it with another woman he turned and moved out of our area. He had been walking all around me, going up several feet and then turning around to pass me. The third time it happened, I turned and looked him in the face and didn't say anything...and he turned and went the other way.

The third person, was in a hoodie and again had a cart with a couple things in it. He wasn't shopping he also had that odd gait and didn't appear to be looking at anything. I did not see his eyes.

All this to say, I was weirded out enough to start talking to another lady in the store...starting the conversation with , "Are you seeing what I'm seeing?"

The answer was "Yes" and we hung out talking long enough that the guy moved on.

Stay safe out there folks, looks like my safe neighborhood isn't what it used to be.

This is voter intimidation. Matt Smith (The First Vice Chair of the Douglas County Republicans) just pissed off at least 20,000 of his neighbors. Oh… and did I mention he’s running for Town Council in District 3?

Are private dental practices still a thing here?

I’ve been going to castle rock modern dentistry and have started to wonder if I am being ripped off. Multiple people have told me this is a corporate type dentist office that recommends costly procedures… I brushed it off until my insurance has been fighting with my dentist over 2 recent dental procedures saying they won’t cover it because there is not enough evidence this level of care is necessary…. I do like that I can easily get an appointment and they do in house crowns but I’m wondering if I need all these fancy in-lay or on-lay crowns when a normal filling would suffice. Also a very expensive on lay failed after only 6 years and now I need a crown. I’m literally spending $1000+ a year here ! I’m only 37! So do honest independently owned offices still exist around here? Am I stuck with these money sucking dentists forever? Please send any recommendations!

moving soon

Hi! Me and my partner are looking to move to this area in december/January. My partner plans on working in denver and I hope to find a job in town. I’m a preschool teacher/ art teacher. we’ve been looking at apartments and i’m just wondering what peoples experiences were with the complex’s in town, they seem to have a lot of available units for a decent price. Is it a good area to find a teaching job? I can even do daycare. How is the commute to denver? Tia

Wildlife Sightings

The news has been reporting a record number of encounters with wildlife, including bears and mountain lions, due in part to the recent wildfires and drought conditions. As we enter fall, animals will become more aggressive as they build their fat reserves to survive winter.

Here are some tips on keeping wildlife out of your yard and who to call if you come in contact with a wild animal: https://livewelldougco.com/living-with-wildlife-safety-tips-for-douglas-county-residents/

Lost Canyon Ranch Survey

Hi,

I live in Colorado Springs, and have visited Lost Canyon twice in the last month. The trails are beautiful and I enjoyed the space immensely, but since I have to drive through a neighborhood in order to get to the park, I was wondering how residents felt about the new park being in their neighborhood. Has the increase in traffic inconvenienced you? Are you weary of the visitors, or feel a loss of privacy? I'm really just curious because I feel kind of bad if I'm contributing to any of those things, and I think it's worth while to hear from the people who are affected. Thanks for any feedback.

Anyone with T-Mobile Fiber?

Xfinity increased their monthly rate, again! I see TMO fiber pre-order promotions in the junk mail. Anyone in Castle Rock (Meadows) already have TMO fiber? I am curious when it will be available here. My friend in Aurora is already using it and is very pleased.

Thanks!
