(33M) I’ve been living in Calgary for about a year, but because work has kept me on the road so much, I’m realizing I haven’t really had the chance to settle in and make the city my home.

Most of my hobbies are pretty solitary for now, fitness, reading about random topics, going for walks and scenic drives, so I’d love to branch out and meet some people.

I’m at a point where I’d really like to build a sense of community here. Most of my colleagues are abroad, so I don’t have much of a work circle in Calgary either. It would be great to meet people for coffee or a drink, go for a walk, try something new, or just have a genuine conversation.

I’m naturally curious and enjoy conversations that wander into unexpected topics, different perspectives, and stories about lives very different from my own.

Hey Calgary! Im a 56M, but very much younger at heart in personality, interests, humour, and energy. I’m a slightly overthinking, very social guy who’s trying to build a friend group that actually feels like a friend group. I’m good at one-on-one conversations, terrible at “let’s all hang out vaguely sometime” energy, and I value friendships where the effort feels mutual.

I’ve lost over 100 lbs in the last year and a half. And I’m still not done.

I know what it’s like to struggle with food.

I know what it’s like to look at how far you have to go and think it’s just too much.

I know what it’s like to tell yourself:

“I’ll start Monday.”

“I’ll start next week.”

“I’ll start when life settles down.”

“I’ll start when I’m ready.”

The problem is, the perfect time never really comes.

At some point, you have to create your own conditions and just start.

That’s what I had to do.

I’m over 100 lbs down now, but I’m still on my own journey. I’m still working on myself, still learning, still chasing my own goals. I’m not standing at the finish line telling everyone else how easy it was.

I’m someone who’s been through it, is still going through it, and has gotten far enough that I can start helping other people with what I’ve learned along the way.

And that’s genuinely what I want to do.

Maybe you want to lose 100 lbs. Maybe you want to lose 20. Maybe you want to build muscle, get stronger, fix your relationship with food, or just finally feel comfortable walking into a gym.

Everyone’s starting point is different.

But everybody has one.

So if you’ve been waiting for a sign, maybe ask yourself:

When is enough, enough?

September starts tomorrow. There are four months left in 2026.

You don't need to completely change your life by January.

But imagine where you could be if you finally started now.
