GENERAL Do not outright ask "What was on your exam". Do not outright say "My exam had ____". This includes topics etc.

Hello Candidates!

Updating the stickied post about sub rules as there have been a few rascals griping about “not seeing a rule saying xyz” even though they received a ban for it. If the rule you broke was relating to exam disclosure - thats not even a sub rule. Thats a rule you agreed to when you sat for the exam. Do not solicit or provide exam content.

First – I want to point out we do have an Automod in place that removes anything from accounts < 5 days old or with < 5 combined karma. We do get some spam posted here and this automod helps quite a bit. If you are on a new account and start posting here, add a comment with a u/galbert123 mention and ill approve it asap

Put at least a little effort into your posts, especially titles Yes this is me on a power trip. I hate clickbait. If your question fits into a post title, ask the question! Dont post "I have a question..." "Should I get my cpa if..."

No Clickbait Post Titles

Be ethical – Do not post, offer to share, buy, sell or ask for copywritten study material – This is an immediate ban

No Promotional Accounts - This is not a place to advertise products. There are some clear xyz product Ambassador accounts that ONLY comment about what study material they use. I’m removing that stuff. If you throw it in every once and a while fine, but some account I see are literally just ads for the study material. Organic conversation about the study material you use is great. Here are reddit guidelines on self promotion.

But what about those ads/promotions I see for xyz product

That company pays for those through the proper reddit channels.

This is NOT a study material marketplace Do not make posts trying to sell your old material, your post removed, maybe a ban if it looks overly sketchy

Use tact and be generally kind to each other – The downvotes usually speak for themselves on this. When I start to see one user getting a bunch of reports and it looks like an obvious troll, I’ll probably ban. This is a judgement call.

Shit posts are great. Posting bullshit is not. Posts like “Score Release moved to after thanksgiving - wouldn’t be surprised from NASBA” is not a shit post or a joke post. It needlessly stressed a bunch of people out

This is a bunch of bullshit censorship.

I guess that's one way to look at it. I dont know where the compulsion to be a jerk fits into the overall betterment of the sub. We are generally all fighting the same fight here.

Asking for or providing exam content is not allowed. This includes "What topics were heavily tested"

Asking what should I study is ok. Asking "Those who recently took AUD, what should I study" leans toward not ok because of the implication. People here are generally good people. Exclude any references to your exam or recent exam takers etc. They'll tell you what to study.

"What sim topics did you see (on your exam)?" No.

What sim topics should I study? - good

"Just got out of AUD, I saw sims on X Y and Z (on my exam)" - No.

"Study this because I saw it on my exam". No good. Just say "it would be wise study this". Get it? If you are talking about your exam, or asking other candidates about their exam, don't.

If you get banned for this, its usually just to get your attention that what you posted broke the rule. Send me a message and ill undo it, just keep your posts compliant with AICPA disclosure policy. I dont want to ban anyone ever.

Please see this post for some examples.

21 day edit: Interesting how two of the people who chimed in saying how stupid this is rarely if ever contributed to the sub otherwise prior to this post and now have deleted their account completely.

Mod Note Reminder - This is not a buying/selling/sharing sub. Asking for or offering access or login credentials to study resources is an immediate ban.

Note on the title - When I say this is not a sharing sub, I am referring to sharing of paid access to study resources. Sharing your own home made study guides is fine - though I highly recommend making your own handwritten study/review notes.

There has been a huge influx of beggars lately. If I click into your account and all I generally see is you asking for study notes or study material access, you're going to get banned.

Also, please flair up! It honestly does help weed out some of these accounts with flair. Try to flair up if you know you are going to be around and want to participate.

This sub is good because of back and forth engagement. Try to give at least as much as you take. If you post a question, try to respond to comments. Nothing worse than a question then OP just ghosts the thread.

CPA exam pass rates always seemed brutal until I browsed Reddit

There are so many people who are just throwing caution to the wind in here. Too many candidates are just cramming information without learning the concepts and mastering the material. It seems ludicrous.

Take your time. Actually learn what you are studying. Your career will thank you.

EDIT: Alot of feelings hurt, it seems. Good, use it as motivation.

Filipinos who graduated in the PH and work as a CPA in the US

Upvotes

Hi, I wanted to ask to those Filipinos who specifically graduated here in the Philippines and are working in the US. My questions are: What do you do prior to taking the exam (something about grade evaluations and etc.), How did you review for the US CPA exam? If you passed the exam and managed to get hired in the US, did you have to go back to college in the US to relearn their laws and accounting principles?

Sorry if the questions sound dumb, but I wanted to ask in advance so I could plan things out better in the future. Thank youuu :))

I had a dream last night I was locked in a room, tied to a chair, and my captors were playing the aforementioned jingle at max volume. What do you think this means?

FAR FAR Easier than Expected

Took FAR today and I honestly felt like it was easier than I expected honestly. I wanna hear if anybody had a similar experience. MCQs i didn’t decently well i believe but sims were a little tricky kind of weird format but i would say did like 60-70%, couple of them i had no clue.

Like before would love to hear anybody story on if they had similar experience.

SHITPOST I am actually super thankful for the CPA.

I feel like I’m the only one in this subreddit that has a pretty optimistic outlook about the AICPA and the testing process. I actually feel extremely thankful about the whole program. IT is obviously the highest leverage thing that we can do in our profession for our career moving forward, and I feel like the content being broken up actually makes it somewhat digestable. On top of that, I feel like it helps with feeling disoriented in all this stuff I learned in my undergrad.

Obviously I have some issues with like for instance the wait after taking an exam. Overall though, I feel like it has been a pretty encouraging and interesting experience studying for this and I feel blessed. Like it will be super nice once all of this pain is over.

last day studying, finally giving up

it's about time.

it's been months and years, and the result is the same. always a fail. I am pretty sure I am not destined for this career field, and i think that's ok. AUD really has been holding me back and I literally just don't seem to remember/understand everything. I am finally admitting to myself that it's ok to give up.

wish everyone truly the best on the rest of their study journey though! :*)

Can anyone help me figure out this one? (PPS sampling question)

(below table is what I thought was the right way to approach to this question)
Invoices Accumulated amount of the invoices chosen or not(my thought) Interval
550 550 X 1-750
1500 2050 (550+1500) o 3750
950 3000 (550+1500+950) X 6750
3000 6000 (550+1500+950) x 9750

I can't understand why invoice 3 is not chosen and 4 is.

My thought was $1,500 will be chosen as the accumulated amount (550+1500) belongs to the range of 751~3750 while the accumulated amount of invoices 550+1500+950, which is 3,000 does not belong to the range of 3750~6750. Same for the invoice 3000.

But the answer says otherwise and my logic is wrong after checking through chat GPT several times.

How can I approach this one?

GENERAL NASBA Experience Verification Interview, What Should I Expect?

Hi everyone!

My NASBA Experience Verification interview is coming up.

For anyone who has done it recently:

What questions were you asked?

Was it mostly about your work experience or were there technical accounting questions too?

Anything specific I should prepare?

Would really appreciate hearing about your experience. Thank you!

GENERAL Dreading REG & FAR while starting Full-Time Work. Am I cooked?

Upvotes

Hey everyone, looking for some real talk and advice from anyone who’s been in a similar spot.

Where I'm at right now:

ISC: Just wrapped up / waiting on score. Expiration set for July 2028.

AUD: Passed on my 3rd try! Expiration set for February 12, 2029.

REG: About halfway through, but I feel super weak on it. I desperately need to do a full review because I honestly can't remember half of what I studied.

FAR: Took it a year ago, failed, and immediately pivoted to ISC. Saving this beast for last.

Issue #1: Testing Environment Anxiety (New Tech / Prometric AI)

With all the discussion surrounding the CPA exam delivery updates and Prometric integrating AI monitoring/proctoring, I am getting severe exam anxiety.

I have a habit of quietly moving my lips/whispering when reading dense questions, or leaning back in my chair to stare at the ceiling while thinking.

Are these basic physical habits actually going to get me flagged for cheating under automated AI proctoring, or is human review still catching false positives? How paranoid do I need to be about moving my face or reading silently to myself?

Issue #2: Starting Full-Time Work + Leaving FAR for Last

I start working full-time in less than a week. Is leaving FAR for last while starting a full-time job a massive mistake?

Also, since AUD took me three tries to pass, I’m spiraling a bit.

My brain keeps telling me: "If you struggled that much on AUD, REG is going to crush you, and FAR is going to annihilate you." Is that logic flawed, or do the skill sets for AUD/REG/FAR not correlate like that?"

Would love any advice on balancing REG/FAR with a full-time workload, how to handle the mental block after multiple retakes, and whether I should be worried about the 2027 transition rules/AI proctoring. Thanks in advance!

New NASBA informed consent agreement

When I logged into the NASBA portal, I was sent to a page with a new informed consent agreement. Were the sections about recording you taking the exam and then having AI analyze your movements always there? Is this why they're changing the score release dates?

FAR FAR Exam Saturday - Advice

Hi guys - last score release I got a 74 so immediately rescheduled my exam for Saturday the 5th. I have been averaging 100 MCQs a day and was trending around 80%. I did questions tonight, and I’m not sure if I was just making stupid mistake but I was trending around 60%. Has this happened to anyone and how did you not let it discourage you?

I usually don’t study the day before my exam, but with my performance tonight I’m thinking maybe I need to

FAR Ratio analysis for FAR

Which ratios are the most important to know? I know that it’s probably best to know all but (at least for me) that isn’t realistic. For people that have passed, which ratios are the most essential?

Im assuming A/R & inv TO, days in inventory & receivable quick & current ratios, and time interest just because those were the ones that were tested in the ratio analysis module MCQs on Becker.

AUD Just took AUD SE1, looking for advice?

Just finished SE1 for AUD and somehow pulled an 80%, but the whole time I felt like I was failing. Genuinely thought I was lost on half the TBS and was second-guessing myself on like 60% of the MCQ. Sat there afterward just staring at the score like, "how."

Did anyone else feel the same, or was this time just pure luck? My exam is in 3 weeks; if anyone has any advice for me, it will be greatly appreciated!

Can’t decide between TCP and ISC

I’m currently studying for REG and planned to take TCP next. I recently talked to some people though and they said that ISC is easier and the pass rates for TCP are inflated by the tax professionals taking the test. I’m in audit by profession but I thought by studying REG first it would give me a leg up on TCP. I’m really torn and while my main focus is obviously passing REG I want to try and squeeze in my discipline exam in January right before busy season. It’s a long shot but the first step in that is obviously choosing a discipline. Any and all advice welcome.
