What's Harvard? Is that one of those online schools I see advertising during ad breaks?

29

u/Talemikus 17h ago

Harvard is the Alabama Football of law schools

Nah, that's Yale.

u/NotJayKayPeeness Alabama Crimson Tide • UAB Blazers 16h ago

So they used to be good, then they were middling a while, then good again for a short time, then very bad a while, then the best ever, and now no one knows how good a school they are?

I'm shocked an online school was able to stick around that long. I guess they're big with prison correspondence?

2

u/grommit72 16h ago

Its the school where they put the player's pronouns on the backs of their jerseys.

Yes. August LSAT was supposedly a shitshow but that was mainly due to a lot of people, at least on r/LSAT, scoring way under their practice exam scores.

3

u/Acrobatic-Mail 17h ago

That happens after every LSAT administration, tbh

3

u/Far_Eye6555 Michigan Wolverines • Army Black Knights 17h ago

Yes! Getting them mixed up 😬

5

u/DawgTerritory Georgia • California 17h ago

The LSAT is test for law school admissions…and is given like every month nowadays.

3

u/Far_Eye6555 Michigan Wolverines • Army Black Knights 17h ago

Yea just edited my comments. Story remains the same though. Bar went to shit. Law grads got fucked. Test rescheduled

My bad folks!

3

u/Far_Eye6555 Michigan Wolverines • Army Black Knights 17h ago edited 17h ago

Check my replies. Tdlr- bar had internet issues nationally. Test was canceled.

2

u/VinPeppBBQ South Carolina Gamecocks 17h ago

What now?

3

u/Far_Eye6555 Michigan Wolverines • Army Black Knights 17h ago edited 17h ago

From my understanding the LSAT BAR is only proctored like once or twice a year (?) nationally.

As far as I’m aware, there was internet connectivity issues and could not guarantee reliable internet connection. Canceled the two day test 😬😬 I have a buddy in Seattle that went all the way over to Spokane for the test for this to happen.

I think they’re retaking it this week though

7

u/FireBickerstaff Michigan State Spartans 17h ago

This was the bar not the LSAT

5

u/VinPeppBBQ South Carolina Gamecocks 17h ago

Holy fuck balls, I would be livid. As someone with a law degree, but never took the bar as I never planned to practice, seeing what all my friends went through studying for that...godamn I would be irate. And when I finished law school, in SC, it was a three day test (two days of essays, one day multiple choice).

Thought about it a long time; I am just not evil enough. I am an asshole, so have that going for me, but just not to the fucking asshole level needed to be a good lawyer.

I’m getting down voted. Must have upset some professional assholes.

2

u/No-Durian-7032 Florida Gators 17h ago

I think I have the sufficient lack of moral character to do it but I made the decision to join the corporate workforce instead of 3 more years in school and debt. Was it the right choice? These headlines say no.

5

u/desert_nole Florida State Seminoles • Team Meteor 17h ago

As someone who went to law school—absolutely not. You made the right decision.

Don't worry, most of us aren't making these big bucks.

2

u/dan_scott_ Florida Gators • Virginia Cavaliers 17h ago

The people making money on this are not living well balanced lives, trust me 😂

You can get lucky and find statement jobs that don't suck, but most of them require constantly living your work, and only a small percentage of even those actually pay big money relative to your hours worked. These guys are making that money, but they're also eating 3 meals a day in office, possibly 6 days a week. It's all trade-offs, lol

2

u/mikelo22 Michigan State • Illinois 16h ago

watching this shit transpire while actively being in law school is a treat, lemme tell ya

1

u/mike_rotch22 Missouri Tigers • Truman Bulldogs 14h ago

Interestingly, of my three good friends who became lawyers, two of them don't like it but need to support their families. The third one quit after about a year because he absolutely hated it and became a stay at home dad. Fortunately for him, his wife is a doctor and is able to support them. I'm sure there are a ton of lawyers who love their job, but I just found it interesting.
