News [Chapman] LSU may have created a problem bigger than an eligibility loophole. CBS reports LSU & Lane Kiffin encouraged NFL players to sue the NCAA. The NCAA Constitution allows action when a member’s conduct “undermines the interests of the Association.” That clause could fit here

IF this is true and IF it can be addressed. Then they cant get a TRO or Injunction. That only works if you haven't already went against the rules. If this is true and LSU or Lane already did it, they can be punished for doing something that WAS against the rules. Cant get an injunction for already breaking the rules.

Honestly, I was trying to do a realistic 24-team SEC super-conference as a fun exercise with four divisions of six teams each and could not figure out a 6th team for one of the divisions so I went with Tulane so LSU could have a partner.

u/mjxxyy8 Michigan Wolverines 9d ago

52

u/obiwanjabroni420 Georgia Tech • Vermont 9d ago

They wouldn’t do that anymore as it’s a punishment on the other (innocent) teams too. A better punishment would be to force them to play their home games in an empty stadium (maybe even allow the visiting team to fill their usual visitors allotment). It would be a big, bright, shining example that they were on punishment and would be pretty damn awesome.

21

u/Difficult-Froyo1192 Clemson Tigers 9d ago

Yeah, as much as I hate what LSU is doing, it would absolutely suck to not be able to watch Clemson play. All we did was agree to a match up that seemed like a good one years ago for both teams and is now going crazy with all the LSU and Kiffin drama.

It’s too late to prevent the home team fans from going to that game though, and visiting fans still sometimes buy home team tickets. I’m not sure that solution would necessarily work either. It still punishes the visiting team if they can’t go to the game either.

Even if we’re talking about off season punishments, so many fans make plans in advance. I almost ended up buying tickets to this, but I already had plans that would make travel difficult to that game. I was planning that back in March. I would have had to buy plane tickets to get there in advance and was going to buy tickets off of someone else. I wouldn’t have been reimbursed for either if they gave that punishment. Even if I was for the home team, think of how many fans live out of state or too far to drive that do similar things.

11

u/obiwanjabroni420 Georgia Tech • Vermont 9d ago

It’s entirely unrealistic to think they would do that, it was just a thought experiment after someone else mentioned a TV ban. It would be epic though for sure.

Assclown coach, clown athletic department, clown university, enabled by a clown state government.

Waiting for that certain handful of LSU flairs to keep carrying water for this joke.

not all of us support this. But as fans what are we really expected to do? It’s not like we’re deciding this ourselves lol

If your water was that fresh then you'd carry it too!

I miss the few weeks from this summer where Cody Campbell was the villain of college sports. I don't like all of this attention.

I men, we all knew anything with Lane would get messy at some point, it has at every stop he has made, but I’m not sure any of us would have guessed it starts before the first kickoff.

Cry like a bitch Lane. I'd say send him back to FAU, but no one deserves that prick with their program. Wouldn't even wish that on UW or the Beavs

I’m in favor of this immediately bringing the death penalty to LSU

If Lane doesn't work out at LSU I'm sure Texas Tech will take him.

NCAA constitution you say? Wonder if the NCAA Supreme Court is mostly textualists or originalists?

What is Lanes actual biggest sports accomplishment? Like what’s the biggest game he has ever won?

17

u/Zero-Cool_ Ole Miss Rebels • Egg Bowl 9d ago

He got some sweet bonuses when golding beat Tulane and Georgia in the playoffs!!

27

u/Free_Possession_4482 Ohio State • Cincinnati 9d ago

Well, I think he got paid for Ole Miss making it to the natty semifinal without him...

16

u/goofyhalo Ole Miss Rebels • Sugar Bowl 9d ago

It was either winning the Peach Bowl in 2023 (and that was a fun game to be at even though I got sick that morning and felt crummy later in the evening)

or beating Georgia in 2024. But in this same season we somehow lost to Kentucky at home. We were their lone SEC win. And then we lost to LSU and Florida. This was the best defense Pete Golding had here and we wasted it. You think we spent all that money to be in the Gator Bowl? Fuck no. The expectation was the Playoff.

11

u/neasroukkez Ohio State Buckeyes • Rose Bowl 9d ago

Appreciate the answer and yeah fuck the Gator Bowl!

I didn’t think Lane had any big conference championship wins or big bowl games win, but damn that is worse than I thought.

How has he failed upwards this much despite not producing any actual post-season success?

He is really good at scheme, not so great at recruiting or development. Also he is notably experienced with exploiting a loophole (see the Lane Kiffin Rule).

His resume is similar to Sark (which is interesting bc Sark was getting heat this year while Kiffin got himself poached with a raise). Plus, being a coach nepo baby probably affords him a lot of opportunities for redemption.

Don’t forget when Kiffin left Tennessee, he had Ed Orgeron call players to advise them to not enroll the next day to come to USC.

Kiffin always does underhanded shit like this.

12

u/Advanced-Lemon3354 9d ago

All Kiffin had to do was not be a total sleazeball.

u/Ironstar_Vol Tennessee Volunteers 9d ago

If only someone had warned lsu that lane kiffin was a piece of shit. But they swore he would be different with them. Already made them a hated laughing stock.

Well at least we have a thread to link to when LSU fans come on these threads and say shit like “I guess it’s just shit on LSU day” or “wait, this isn’t LSU. Why does anyone care?”

I hate Lane as much as the next guy but this reeks of Mike Florio-esque legal fanfiction to me. Yeah, this could happen, but do we really believe that it will?

Of course, I didn't think the SEC would go from that toothless statement to a full multisport ban in 24 hours either.

Found his X account. Someone formerly associated with Ole Miss who has just been tweeting about LSU like a scorned ex. Source is “dude trust me” for all I could find. Googled him. He sells cars in MS.
