Other Equipment In-N-Out shooting made me realize the importance of more ammo

For context, I carry a P365XL Spectre Comp. 12 round mag +1 in the chamber. I don't know if we still hate T-Rex Arms or not, but I've been carrying their sidecar holster for like 4 years now and it's been my favorite.

With Jordan's breakdown of his experience interacting with the In-N-Out shooter, it made me realize the importance of suppressive fire. Not suppressed fire (which was based as fuck), but being able to lock down the target to an area via suppression.

I don't plan on changing my gun. But I did just buy an extra magazine attachment for my sidecar holster to hold the 17 round mag. I used to throw it in my pocket, but I'm a professional basketball shorts wearer during these hotter months and it would always be swinging around.

Getting Started Can I say something about the Gun community?

For context: As a Black American, a Maryland resident , Unaffiliated with any party but I do have left-leaning views. Only 2 years deep into gun ownership and practice.

SO FAR, I can honestly say that the gun community is one of the most welcoming, helpful, and friendliest sub-community that have ever experienced. By far one of the least toxic sub-reddits too lol . Transitioning from not owning any weapon to now owning an AR, Shotgun, 2x pistols with my permit, I couldn't asked for a smoother integration. As a community, continue to assist, give guidance, and have patience for others. Fatherhood started this fun (But very expensive ) journey for me and its been fantastic. Just wanted to share some positivity.

Guns & Ammo Real or fudd lore?

Recently attended an NRA basic pistol class for the hell of it. I've been shooting since I was a kid and have a lot of experience with firearms. The 60+ year old instructor told the class that using the slide release button on semi-auto pistols wears down the slide and slide rails whereas pulling the slide back to chamber a round doesn't. I didn't feel like arguing but that sounds dumb as fuck considering it does literally the exact same thing. Thoughts?

Holsters & Belts Opinion of favorite belt

I’ve heard about the HC, Kore, Nex, and groovelife.

I’m leaning towards groovelife because I want an all around belt and plan to appendix carry. I want something with enough rigidity to carry but comfortable as heck when not.

If there’s any opinions on other recommendations I would like to hear your experiences.

Like mentioned above, I want comfortability with the stretch and plan to IWB a P365 so nothing too large. I really like the ratcheting of the nex but hear that it’s pretty tough and rigid which to me means hula hooping or uncomfortability.

I’m all ears! Let me know what you guys prefer and what is most comfortable with being tough enough to hold up a micro 9mm

Permit Process 5 shots @25 yards with a bodyguard

Need to hit this and others (at lower distances) to qualify for my permit. It really seems comical to expect people to be sharpshooters with micro compacts but here we are.

Never fired it before and am wondering how difficult it'll be. I don't have a lot of time to schedule formal training but I can get a good range day in before the qual. I'm a bit hesitant since I'm more used to full size guns and don't want to waste $$$ only to fail. Do I have a shot at this or should I reschedule the class further out?

Scenario Help me understand equal force

Post image
67 Upvotes

This is from a self defense Facebook page I saw this morning. The guy in the fridge was hit in the head with a bottle. He was carrying a knife and responded by attacking the bottle guy with it. I didn't want to post more pictures but you get the idea.

From the classes I've taken I've been told you have to meet force with equal force. In this scenario if the fridge guy had a firearm could he use it against the bottle guy? Was him even using a knife equal force?

This is something I always struggle with, I never quite know when you can legally use your firearm.

These things keep morphing on me. They’re like the AR-15 of handguns. Might have to try a Fuse at some point.

Thanks for letting me share. 🫡

Permit Process Virginia CHP timing?

I know this varies GREATLY by locality but what has been people’s experience with getting your CHP shipped?

After waiting 3 weeks, I had called my local court (almost a week and a half ago) and was told my permit was approved and they just “needed to print it out and ship it” but nothing in the mail.

Is this unusual or normal?

I can get it for $250 only $100 more than the tlr7hlx.

I like it because of the length and the punchiness.

Guns & Ammo Feeling proud about not giving up

Post image

I’m glad i listened too the guys that said to polish the feed ramps. I really didn’t want to send her in. I qualified with the Bodyguard today. All the way to 40 feet. So the adjustments on the front sight and the 600 rounds of mostly flat tipped ammo and I have a new edc. Never thought I would replace the 26. She eats critical defense and has not had an issue with it. I see why so many have gone to a pocket .380 like these. Shit to be able to carry 30 extra rounds like it’s 10 round mag of 9 milly. Winning.

Guns & Ammo Magazine Extension for M&P Shield Plus? (+2, +3, +5 rounds?)

First and foremost; no, I do not live in a restricted state. I live in NC where we thankfully do not have silly magazine restrictions.

I never use the 10 round magazine that came with my M&P Shield Plus because it is so small that I cannot get a good grip on the pistol. I bought a pinkie extension so that my pinkie rests on the front-bottom of the mag, but my palm still hangs off the back of the mag and as a relatively new shooter, this noticeably affects my accuracy.

I would really love to just convert this magazine to a 12-round, 13-round, or even a 15-round magazine. Are there any baseplate extensions or anything like that which would add extra room for rounds in the magazine?

Guns & Ammo Mp 2.0 compact 4”

Need a new downsized edc. Thinking shield plus but it’s not much smaller so feel it’s going to print almost the same. 365/hellcat seem like a good size but snappy and want the pinky on the grip.

Training Dry fire during a vacation? In a hotel room? Why not?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

On vacation, but still wanted to squeeze in a little dry practice. The hotel room has a spacious living area - so I connected to WiFi, fired up ACE VR, and got some reps in. No ammo, no range trip, and didn't even have to leave the hotel. 😅

Holsters & Belts Help me decide. Vedder Lighttuck or Comforttuck?

I’ve only used the lighttuck. Buying for a G19, but I’m wondering if I’ll have buyers remorse over the comforttuck.

Training Optic flush against the front or rear of the optic cut?

I feel dumb for asking but idk which to do. I don’t have recoil lugs and google ai is saying flush with front but the resources it’s using aren’t exactly reliable.

Recently swapped optics and can’t recall what did before lol.

Training Asked this in the AR15 subreddit and thought I’d ask here too. How many of you have taken training classes?

I have taught myself through an ungodly amount of obsessed research over the years since I started shooting. I’m not horrible, but I know I can always improve. I’ve started to take concealed carry serious again after watching Garand Thumb’s video with Jordan, but it made me realize if I’m going to carry I should be more than proficient.
