We’ll be celebrating by taking her out to her favourite place - the countryside for a big run!

A mama kitty abandoned her kitten in my neighborhood. I took her in and have been caring for her. Orion loves cats and he takes his job as kitty protector very seriously!! He just sits and stares very lovingly.

The best dog I’ve ever know. I still cry.

Does anyone have a similar experience of their once standoffish yet loving BC/BC-mix becoming cuddly and asking for kisses/cuddles as they grow older?

Our girl, Bowie, is about to turn 6 years old. She’s always been a bit standoffish but very happy, bouncy, and eager to play/please. She hated being too close to you or getting pets when she didn’t want them. She absolutely hated cuddles.

Over the past 8 months or so she’s become so loving and cuddly. She jumps on the couch and lays on top of my husband. She comes to me and bathes me in kisses. She lets me hold her and give her kisses. She sleeps between my legs in the evening. It’s like a switch has flipped. We love it and hope that this behavior is here to stay.

I missed a birthday post somehow. He’s 14 months old now! I’m so glad we were able to bring him into our lives! He’s my best buddy, and so much fun to have around.

Training is still a work in progress… and probably will be for awhile yet, but he’s so worth all the trouble he gets into!

This is a recent error in his file at a new vet, We go back Sunday and I’ll have it fixed. I’m assuming the vets’ assistant misheard or just tossed a wild guess somewhere in the gene pool… either way I had a good laugh. Introducing my (not so impressed) Anatolian Shep. Not really sure why he’s not out doing some livestock work, maybe hes broken…😂

I had a long talk with family and friends, and absorbed all the advice from kind commenters. As such, I decided to let Pepper go. Shes just left and i'm having a wee cry in my car.

I know she cant ever see this, but I love you munchkin and I hope you have the absolute bestest life with your new family. I will never forget you x

La cogí con un mes y medio, era la más pequeña de la camada, además estaba MUY delgada. Según fue creciendo me di cuenta que actuaba como un Border y se parecía mucho a uno, pero tiene alguna mezcla. Tiene 7 meses, pesa sobre 12kg y no creo que llegue a los 40cm a la cruz. Tengo pensado hacerle una prueba de ADN, pero me gustaría saber qué opináis.

Just wanted to show off my good girl...

I lost my soul dog to cancer a few days ago and wanted to share a bit about him with this group. Writing this and sharing his story is helping me process the grief of his loss which has been far worse than I ever could have imagined.

I adopted Rocket in Colorado when I was in my early 20's. He was a disaster. Scared of quite literally everything - men, children, other people generally, halloween decorations, people moving too fast in his space, the phone ringing, you name it, he was probably scared of it.

The foster that was taking care of him couldn't be happier to hand him off. I had to cary him out of the adoption event (he was 40lbs at the time) because he was completely frozen in fear hiding under a table from all the commotion and he peed all over me accidentally in the process. My friends all thought I was completely insane.

In their defense, he was my first dog and I truly had no idea what I was getting myself into. I was initially told he was an Aussie mix to which I thought sure, I can handle that! But 2 DNA tests confirmed that he was all border collie. I think most people in this situation would have probably given him back given all of his behavioral problems, but I was a single girl in my 20s who had just gone through a bad break up and had endless energy myself. You couldn't ask for a better match.

And despite all of Rocket's insecurities and fears, he was never scared of me. He bonded with me immediately. I've never felt a connection like that with a dog and I'm not sure I ever will again.

Over the years, we grew up together. Rocket gave excellent hugs, and was truly the sweetest dog I've ever had the joy of knowing. He didn't have a mean bone in his body, and was a sensitive, loving intuitive boy. I learned so much from him, including patience and the definition of unconditional love. In return I taught him that the world wasn't as scary as he thought, and we proceeded to spend the next decade hiking, backpacking, camping, trail running and road tripping all over the US together. In the last 5 years or so, he blossomed and was the happiest dog you could possibly imagine. All of my friends and family were astounded by how he healed and grew over the years. Seeing his transformation has truly been a gift and one of the greatest blessings I've experienced in this life thus far.

I don't totally know how old he was - around 10 or 11 if I had to guess? But I do know that I desperately wish we had more time, and it feels horribly unfair to have had his life cut short by cancer when I see other folks that have dogs live for 15+ years. The house is so painfully quiet without him in it, and I have a huge hole in my heart where his furry little face used to be. I'm going to miss the shit out of him for the rest of this life.

Rest easy buddy. I'll see you again someday.

Had to share his cuteness with the world

Had to say goodbye to my baby. I’m so thankful for the love she gave me.

My girl Ziggy is a 1.5yo BC/Husky’s mix with a rash that’s been around for ~5wks. I’ve been to the vet a couple times now, about to take her back in. First photo is today, second is week 4, third is week 1, last is pre-rash.

Week 1: Animax, NSAID, cone—> got better
Week 2: Animax—> got worse
Week 3: Animax, cone—> a little worse
Week 4: Animax, prednisone, credelio, cephelaxib (antibiotic)—> got better, less inflammation
Week 5: finishing cephelaxin, tapering prednisone—> got worse, developed this flakey crust, developed a new round lesion nearby

Could it be ringworm? Allergies? The vet also mentioned zinc-responsive dermatosis which is rare but specific to husky breeds.

I know autoimmune is a high possibility but I’m just trying to think of every option before seeing a dermatologist.

Any ideas?
