Where can I get information on clubs/communities?
I only found out about the Writers Community through its meetings being an event on Canvas and I’m sitting outside the meeting room where I’m almost 95% sure it’s cancelled since no one has shown up and it’s a couple minutes until the meeting time and I don’t have anything else to go by besides event dates on Canvas that are reoccurring and tell me nothing else. The links on the Ball State website don’t work, and I really want to know where I could find viable information for clubs of any kind since I found this one by sheer luck.

How to pay remaining tuition balence?
I recently got a job at woodworth and ill be working 3 times week and I have FWS, but I still have a remaining balence of about 1,100 for tuition. I am worring that I wont have enough to be able to pay for this semester. I would work more but I also have to do service hours for my major and the times are really limited because of being an education major. Any tips to help me out?

Anyone else having horrible luck getting an on campus job??
I'm losing my mind. I've applied to like 7 jobs and none of them have even responded. It's been weeks. Hell, I don't even qualify for most of these jobs because they want a specific major, or someone who works during summer! I even qualify for a federal work study, so I should get at least some priority right?? I can't afford these monthly out of pocket payments after next month so if I can't get a job I'm actually screwed 😭😭

Admission Question
Hi everyone. I'm here to ask a question anonymously. I have a GPA around 2.9 cumulative for all my years (i had real life struggles lowering it), but this year I'm on track to graduate HS early with a GPA for the senior year around 3.2-3.3~. I chose not to attach SAT scores.
I am a resident of Indiana, and have gotten some mail from BSU (aswell as a bunch of other colleges obviously). On my application I highlighted my technical skills and abilities to pick up tasks quickly, as well as work experience and community service tidbits. I have applied for Physics.
Sorry if this isn't the scope of this channel, my apologies. Would just like to know if you guys think I have a good chance of being admitted. I've applied for the term of Spring 2027. I really would like to attend so if you guys have any guesses please tell me. :)

Looking to transfer
Hello, I go to a small liberal arts college in Missouri, where I'm getting in state tuition currently. I'm looking to transfer to Ball Sate this spring but finances are a big factor for me and I was wondering if anyone here had advice or knowledge about what automatic scholarships look like for out of state transfer students? Any advice would be amazing, thanks!

Healthy places to eat in Muncie
I’m looking for something nutritious, like Whole Foods (not the store). Like maybe something like Chipotle that doesn’t smother stuff in high calorie sauce. Any options?

Senior in Highschool, and have some questions about college.
Hello! I am a Senior in HS, and I am an Indiana resident. I am looking at BallState for their media and production aspects. Most of my life revolves around cameras, and looking through a lens. I am at the top of my class at my Highschool in this aspect, and know BallState is one of, if not the best option I have in Indiana. I want to be able to expand my knowledge and skills to a whole other level, and work in the field as I grow up and until I retire.
Now, for my questions. I haven't really been told much about how College works, and I especially have questions about this one specifically, since I am interested in going here.
1. How good really is the program? I know many say its the best but if anybody on here is in the program is it true?
2. What should I have prepared before next year? I need to know what to have ready for campus life and the such.
3. How exactly does it work? I know I have to have some core classes as well as a major, but thats pretty much the extent of my knowledge. I feel stupid for asking, but I really do not understand the requirements, and what I will need to graduate.
4. This one is kind of a two parter. First of all, does anybody know how I can get a Disabled Veterans Children's discount? I know its possible in most colleges, and because my dad is a Disabled Veteran he and I both want to get that working for me but I dont see anywhere on the website about it even though other sources have said its possible. The second part is, how can I set up a meeting with somebody at the school to discuss things like this? And is that even possible?
5. (Edited in afterwards...) How do the dorms work here? Are they single person? I'd much rather have a single room if possible but if not I can deal with it.
If you took the time to read through these and answer these, thank you! I really do appreciate your time. If you have any other advice or notes I would greatly appreciate that as well.

Any other returning students having wifi issues?
before anyone comes after me, i’ve already contacted the help desk to see if i can get this fixed, but i’m curious if anyone else is experiencing this.
i’m a returning student, still living on campus. i have an xbox one which i’ve had no problem connecting to the bsu@home wifi in the past but suddenly it refuses to work. i’ve tried all the usual “turn it off and on, restart it, unplug it, forget the wifi, etc” tricks.
and it could 100% be that it’s just an old xbox but it worked just fine 4 months ago when i was on campus in the spring??? im so confused

Question about first day program
Hello Reddit, this may have been asked before but I still wanted to ask.
When I go to course materials on Canvas, I see no required course materials.
However, I will be using Maya and likely Adobe creative space, and I have an online textbook for public speaking (I think the instructor said it's free but, I thought it might be nice to mention) so I don't want to lose access to that kind of stuff.
Does anybody know if I opt out if I will lose access to Maya or anything? Any help is appreciated!!

Trying to join sports clubs…
So I’m trying to join wrestling and judo, but are they really competitive?
I like competitive hands-on sports, and I wish so badly that wrestling would become an actual sport, whether it be coed or girls and boys separately. But what do they actually do? Are they hardcore like if they were an actual sport or is it like, we do exercises, but we won’t scold you for not doing them?

Is the Ball State commuter parking pass actually worth it?
I’m trying to decide if I should buy a commuter parking pass. I’ve heard Ball State sells way more commuter passes than there are actual commuter spots, so even if you have a pass there’s a chance you drive to campus and can’t find anywhere to park.
For people who have had one, is it actually that bad? How hard is it to find a spot, especially during the busiest times?
I live at Varsity House, so I’m literally only about 5 minutes from campus. Are there any other parking options that would make more sense for me instead of buying the commuter pass? Like certain lots, garages, metered parking, or anything else you guys recommend?
Just trying to figure out what’s actually worth the money before I buy a pass.

Bummer that we can't BB in the 5 court area.
All that for all this time over a water fountain issue. But at least they finally taped the wid-open electrical socket in the locker room.

Class Access
Hi everyone!
I’m starting my master’s program in accounting tomorrow and I am completely online. Does anyone know when Canvas will show the class? Do I have to wait until tomorrow?
Thank you!!

First Day Program
Hello everyone!
As you may have noticed in your ebill, there may be a item titled "Course Materials - First Day". Basically, you're being charged $22.75 per credit hour, and in return, you will be able to receive your required textbooks for the semester. This charge is built into your tuition, essentially.
This total cost could potentially be much more than just paying for your textbooks out of pocket. For example, I am taking 15 credit hours, so my first day charge is $341.25. However, with the classes that I am taking, my textbooks are only going to cost me about $25.
It is a good idea to compare the cost of your textbooks to what you'll be charged for First Day. It's a good option for students with super expensive textbooks, and if it's more accessible for your needs, go for it. Just keep your options in mind.
If you want or need to opt out, you can go to https://firstdayoptout.bsu.edu/
You should have also have received an email with more information about the program, as well as a link to opt out, if you choose to do so. <3

Where do I send DoorDash on campus?
I don’t know, I’ve been looking everywhere and I still don’t know where to send them. I don’t want them to get a ticket. For them not to get one do I have to be out there so they don’t park?

Sucks being a transfer student😭
It kinda sucks walking around campus and seeing groups of people already having fun with their friends while I’m just going back to my apartment and sitting there by myself. I actually want to go to events and get involved, but going to stuff completely alone just feels awkward and intimidating, especially when it seems like everyone else already has people to go with.
For anyone who transferred here or started out not knowing anybody, how did you actually make friends? Did you just force yourself to go to events alone? How long did it take before you found people you actually hung out with regularly?
I don’t want to spend my whole semester just going to class and then sitting in my apartment, so any advice would genuinely help.
