My question is, genuinely, how do we find a way to try and organize and communicate with as many people as possible that they need to be prepared? I don’t know where to start. The only thing that’s going to fix this is organization. Things could go so wrong if we don’t find a plan to protect as many people as possible. Social media is the quickest way to get it around but where do we even start

This is something I saw and thought should be shared. I am Gen Z, and the youth in question in this video are about my age.

It discusses the growing political movement among young adults towards a dictatorship, seeing what Spain was under Franco as something to return to, and something of praise. I am a bit appalled, but I have a viewpoint others may not, even in Spain.

For context, I'm American but my grandfather is a Spaniard, now 97. He grew up as a child during the Spanish civil war and then the dictatorship under Franco.

In advance, I'd like to note the next things may be a bit dark so be aware of that 👍!

I only have one big story about my grandfather's life during that time, or at least about the dictatorship. He grew up having to sleep fully dressed in case of bombings, and hearing the news of destruction and death in his home country. I don't know how old he was when this story took place, but several of his siblings hadn't been born yet.

On an evening, police came to their home and arrested his father. I'm not sure if they said why to the family but all of a sudden his father was arrested and jailed. My great grandfather was a scissor grinder and had a shop in their city. A competitor had decided to lie to the police, saying that my great grandfather was teaching communism in the family's basement. Such a basement did not exist but the police didn't seem to care.

While in jail, a friend of his who was a judge from the same home town found him and advocated for him, allowing him to return home. He very easily could have been killed if this hadn't happened, mind you, all because of a lie.

My great grandfather never pressed charges against the competitor who lied to the police, and I am very glad. He was honest in a time of hatred. He lived where others may not have been so lucky.

I hated the fact that under Franco this could happen, and I don't know how much this has affected my grandfather as the years have passed. He moved to the US after becoming a doctor in Spain, treating people in Eastern and Central Kentucky before moving back to Spain 20-30 years ago. By then Franco was dead and King Juan Carlos was the leader. Over the years Spain has grown, and my grandfather praises the good in his home. Education and healthcare are accessible, and people are free to be themselves. The government works more for the people than before, and the benefits my grandfather saw because of this were a blessing, especially as his health declined over decades.

I wanted to note also that my grandfather never, NEVER supported fascism even when he grew up with it. He advocated against war in the States, including Iraq and Vietnam by writing letters and even putting a statement in the newspaper along with other doctors. He hates to see where the US is going now, too.

When the Trump administration (a little off topic) tried to rewrite the events of January 6, 2020 this year, I asked my grandfather if such a propaganda move was common under Franco. He told me that propaganda was not a concern, because you woke up every day knowing it could be your last.

I know this is long, and thank you for reading all of this if you have made it this far. I am shocked and even bewildered by the news I saw, and even if 20% of the people want to see another dictatorship, it worries me when it was already so recent. I hope this was worth the read, and thank you once again.

On 21 May, 2025, Israel is set to begin a 14-week infrastructure phase aimed at connecting the Green Line of the Jerusalem Light Rail (JLR) to the existing Red Line.1 While this may appear to be a routine urban transportation project, it carries significant legal implications, particularly in occupied East Jerusalem, which is internationally recognized as occupied territory. Project Overview The Jerusalem Light Rail (JLR) is an Israeli government project designed to link illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied State of Palestine to West Jerusalem through a light rail system. (1)

And a French subcontractor, Egis, still provides planning and consulting services to the Jerusalem light rail. It is owned by the public firm Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations.

“In the name of corporate ethics, for which no exception should be made, we urgently call upon both the government and the senior management of [Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations] to demand the immediate withdrawal of Egis from this project,” the human rights and labor groups state.(2)

We must pressure Egis Rail to withdraw from areas where operations are unlawful—following a specific timeline and without harming the Palestinian workers who rely on these jobs for their livelihood. The withdrawal of investors (without victimizing Palestinian workers) represents a vital victory for the anti-fascist Palestinian cause.

During the 1947–1949 Nakba (The Catastrophe), Zionist militias and the newly formed Israeli army depopulated, destroyed, and burned more than 530 Palestinian villages and towns.

According to the comprehensive study "All That Remains" by Palestinian historian Walid Khalidi, the systematic burning and demolition of houses were used as military tactics to force residents out and ensure they could never return.

Key Palestinian Villages Burned and Destroyed During the Nakba

Deir Yassin: Located west of Jerusalem, this village was attacked on April 9, 1948, by Irgun and Lehi militias. After a massacre that killed over 100 civilians, houses were systematically dynamited and set on fire.

Balad al-Sheikh: Situated near Haifa, this large village was targeted by Palmach forces. In late 1947 and early 1948, dozens of houses were blown up and burned while residents were inside, leading to total depopulation.

Sa'sa': Located in the Safed district, this village faced a brutal night raid by Haganah forces in February 1948. Militias blew up 16 houses over the heads of the villagers and set fire to the remaining property.

Saffuriya: A historic, strategic village near Nazareth. It was heavily bombed from the air in July 1948, and ground troops subsequently torched and demolished the remaining homes to expel the population to Lebanon.

Tantura: A coastal fishing village south of Haifa. Following its capture in May 1948, a mass killing took place, and the majority of the village homes were burned down. Today, a beach resort and parking lot stand over the site.

Bayt Nabala: Located in the Ramle district, this prosperous agricultural village was completely depopulated during "Operation Danny" in July 1948. The military destroyed all its buildings to prevent any physical return.

The tactical burning and flattening of these villages served a direct political and demographic purpose: to permanently eradicate the Palestinian Right of Return.Today, the lands of these destroyed villages have been repurposed in three major ways:Israeli Settlements: Modern Israeli towns, kibbutzim, and moshavim were built directly over the ruins and given Hebrew names.National Parks and Afforestation: The Jewish National Fund (JNF) planted dense pine and eucalyptus forests over more than 180 demolished villages to conceal the stone ruins and terraced fields.Artist Colonies: In rare cases where stone houses survived—such as Ein Hod (Ayn Hawd)—the original Palestinian inhabitants were expelled, and the village was converted into an Israeli artists' colony.

Hi everyone! I hate to spam but just want to pass along a site I've been working on. it's called rightsleft.org I'm using it as the People's Ledger to keep track of things that Trump has taken, changed, closed, ruined and removed in his term. It's less opinion and more so just a itemized checklist of things Trump has done to the country.
