Agent is unable to delete files

1 Upvotes

I use the Android Studio agent with an key from OpenAI. Unfortunately the AI seems to be unable to delete files. It tells me that it's not allowed to use rm with run_shell_command and there doesn't seem to be a delete_file command exposed.

In this session, those include APIs such as:
• find_files / read_file
• write_file
• replace_file_content
• multi_replace_file_content
A dedicated delete capability would need to be exposed in that same tool namespace (typically as something like delete_file). It is not currently present, so I cannot invoke it.

Also changing "Delete or rename files in the project" in the Android Studio settings doesn't help, doesn't matter if it's set to "Ask every time" or "Always allow".

Does anyone has a solution for this?

I'm looking for an Android Studio tutorial on creating your own app—in English or German, and without an Indian accent or anything like that.

As mentioned above, I’m looking for a video on creating an app in Android Studio—one that \*you\* actually used and found helpful. Either English or German would be great. Thanks in advance!

Looking for a few Android beta testers for an app we built

4 Upvotes

We’ve been building an Android app for the past few weeks and it has now reached BETA.

Before we continue toward a public release, I’d like to get some feedback from real users who haven’t been involved in the development.

I’m mainly looking for people willing to test the registration/login flow, daily session system, ads/boost functionality, navigation and general UI/UX.

I’m not posting any download links here and this isn’t meant as promotion. I’m genuinely interested in finding bugs, confusing parts of the UI, or anything that doesn’t work as expected.

If anyone here would be willing to test it and give honest feedback, leave a comment and I’ll get in touch.

Negative feedback is welcome too — that’s exactly what BETA testing is for.

How do you usually test Android apps before release?

1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I’m preparing an Android app for closed testing on Google Play, and I’d like advice from people who have done this before.
The app is a women’s wellness / cycle tracking app, and I want to make sure the testing process is done properly before launch.
I’d appreciate advice on:
how to find reliable closed testers
what kind of feedback questions to ask
how many testers are usually enough
what bugs or issues I should watch for
how to collect feedback in a simple way
any common mistakes with Google Play closed testing
For anyone who has tested or launched an Android app before, what would you recommend?
Thank you.

Android Emulators that work with Flutter for Visual Studio Code

1 Upvotes

Recently I have been trying to develop an app. I keep getting recommended with flutter and android studio code being connected to my visual studio code. I have already downloaded both applications but when I am trying to accept the licenses for Android studio in my command prompt. It keeps giving me an response that the command doesn't work anymore. I have been searching for the new command but ends up empty handed. Do anyone knows the new command or any other applications I can use with Flutter?

Sync With Jetbrains?

I'm trying to sync my Jetbrains settings with AS but whenever I try to it tells me to install the plugin but the plugin isn't anywhere on the marketplace. Did they end support for Jetbrains account syncing? I haven't had to setup AS on a computer for a while so I very well could be missing something simple I forgot to do.

Windows 11 crash blue screen w/ Android Studio Emulator

1 Upvotes

Super Briefly

Windows — blue screen with the DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION error.

  • GPU: RX 460
  • Android Studio: God knows which version, too lazy to check

The solution, super briefly:

  • updated the GPU driver — installed AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.5.2 (WHQL Recommended);
  • disabled Hyper-V in Windows;
  • entered the following in PowerShell:bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off
  • enabled Intel Virtualization Technology in BIOS;
  • in the Android emulator image settings, used Software as the graphics accelerator instead of Hardware.

As a result, Android 8, 12, and 15 are now working without crashes. Before this, only Android 8 was working properly; all the other versions were crashing Windows into a blue screen with DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION when starting the emulator.

A Little Less Briefly

Shalom everybody.

I ran into a very stupid feature, among all the other stupid things, with Android Studio. Some Android versions, when launched on the emulator built into Android Studio, simply crash Windows.

And Windows normally doesn't crash from practically anything: not Cyberpunk, not GTA 5, not even Visual Studio — nothing. But Android Studio somehow manages to crash the whole damn Windows.

At first, I thought it was just a complete system freeze, not even an actual crash. Nothing would work at all, to the point where even the audio chip would freeze. Some kind of whistle or whatever was playing through the speakers at that exact moment would just get stuck there.

Turns out, nope: after roughly a minute, I get a blue screen with the following error:

Maybe you are facing the same problem, and the same solution will work for you.

After all these manipulations, I can now launch pretty much all the Android versions I have tested: Android 8, Android 12, and even Android 15. No crashes, no sudden exits, nothing.

Configuration

The specs are something like this: I don't remember which CPU, some Gigabyte motherboard, and the GPU — which is the key thing in this particular case — is an RX 460.

This is just for comparison, in case the reader has the same GPU or something similar.

But it seems that the key issue here was the GPU driver.

Apart from updating the GPU driver, I also performed several other manipulations. Which of them actually worked and which ones did absolutely fuck all — no idea. I didn't bother checking anymore.

What I Did

1. Updated the GPU Driver

Previously, I had a driver that, as far as I remember, was from 2015.

The installed version was:

  • AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 25.1.1

After that, I installed the newer version:

  • AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.5.2 (WHQL Recommended)

2. Disabled Hyper-V

Next, I launched PowerShell — this is a program built into Windows, basically similar to Command Prompt, just a little different.

In Windows 11, you can simply launch it from the Start menu. Search for PowerShell, run it as Administrator, and enter:

bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off

But before that, I also removed Hyper-V.

Maybe Hyper-V actually had some purpose here and disabling it didn't do anything at all. I don't know — I didn't bother testing it separately.

To remove Hyper-V:

  1. Open Start → Settings.
  2. In the System tab, find Optional features.
  3. Click it.
  4. Scroll down and select More Windows features.
  5. In the window that appears, untick Hyper-V, if it is enabled.
  6. Save the changes.

3. Enabled Intel Virtualization Technology in BIOS

Also, enable Intel Virtualization Technology in the BIOS — whatever it happens to be called there.

If you have this option in your BIOS, turn it on.

I don't think there is any need to explain how to enter the BIOS, but just in case:

  • when the computer is booting, press Delete;
  • the BIOS will open;
  • find the Intel Virtualization Technology setting;
  • enable it.

In the BIOS, this feature may have a different name, for example VT-x.

At the same time, VT-d is something completely different. That's not the one we need.

The full name of the setting we're looking for is:

Intel Virtualization Technology.

An Important Point About Graphics Acceleration Mode in Image

The crash actually happened once more even after all these manipulations.

In the settings of one of the Android versions, I think it was Android 12, I selected Hardware instead of Software as the graphics accelerator.

Interestingly, on another Android version, selecting Hardware did not break anything and even seemed to make it run faster.

1 Upvotes

Windows, синий экран с ошибкой DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

  • обновил драйвер видеокарты — поставил AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.5.2 (WHQL Recommended);
  • отключил Hyper-V в Windows;
PowerShell:bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off
  • включил Intel Virtualization Technology в BIOS;
Hardware.

  • AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 25.1.1

  • AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.5.2 (WHQL Recommended)

bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off

Windows.

  • при загрузке компьютера нажимаем Delete;
  • открывается BIOS;
  • находим настройку Intel Virtualization Technology;

Intel Virtualization Technology.
