Recording Mac system audio in Audition?
Sorry for the noob question.
I don't see an easy way to do this but maybe it's right under my nose?
Thanks in advance!

audio preview issue
So here's my basic signal path:
instrument ---> audio interface input---> audition ---> audition mix ---> audio interface output
Very simple, but for some reason I cannot hear my instrument for monitoring, or recording. Seeing no peaks on screen, but they are hitting the interface.
And before we point the finger at audio hardware set up, routing a channel, or arming it-- I have all those things down. I know because when I hit record then I get peaks and audio recording in-- but I still can't hear it on my headphones or studio monitors. The weird part, on playback I CAN hear everything just fine through this routing, so I know it's right.
My workaround has been to enable headphone monitoring on the audio interface, but that only gives me a live signal of just the instrument. Fine for a single track, but I am relying on VSTs for effects, so I can't hear them until after I lay down something.
I feel like this has to be some little setting I am missing. Any ideas?

Please, please help! The Zoom Navigator driving me insane!
Hoping someone can help.
I'm in Waveform, I'm in punch n roll and I don't highlight a section of track first, I just hit the space bar to stop and the zoom navigator automatically zooms in. I do another P&R, and the navigator zooms in automatically again and Im left with a flat line. So after each P&R I have t Ctrl + mouse wheel back to get back the view I started with. It's driving me mad!
I've spent hours trawling to find a solution, including the blatantly obvious (preferences, general, auto scrolling off, page and centre and every combination I can think of and nothing works.

AA is hellbent on auto-zooming despite me throwing the book at it. Is there any way to lock the two little grey bars to stop this incessant auto zooming. And Yes, I've even thought of going back to Audacity - that shows how bad it is.

What it is doing is automatically zooming in on the section of P&R i.e. the section between the two grey handles above. The handles expand away from each other as the P&R continues. So, a with a long P&R of say 2 minutes, when i stop, the damned auto zoom zooms in on that 2 min section, and now I'm looking at an ultra zoom of a thin green line which is useless and costs my sanity and precious editing time. There must be a solution.

How can I re-create the âSmashed Dynamicsâ effect?
In the Effects Rack, there is an effect called Smashed Dynamics. How can I re-create this without using the effect itself?

Mixing drums in Audition â the stock-plugin chain I actually use (no paid plugins)
Long-time drum recorder here. I mixed my last few tracks entirely in Audition, and a surprising number of people still assume Audition "can't do music." It absolutely can â you just have to treat it like a multitrack editor, not a traditional DAW.
The main elements of the chain that's been working for me:
- Parametric EQ first â carve the low-mid mud out of the kick and toms before you boost anything. Audition's built-in parametric is genuinely enough for this; I don't reach for paid EQ on drums at all.
- Gate the snare before compressing â otherwise the compressor is just amplifying bleed from the rest of the kit.
- Compression last, subtle â roughly 3:1, just to glue the kit together. Nothing heavier needed.
The point of the whole thing: you don't need a plugin suite for a pro drum tone in Audition. The stock tools do far more than people give them credit for.
I recorded a full walkthrough of the workflow with before/after A/B comparisons if you want to hear it in practice:
Happy to answer anything on the chain â always keen to compare notes with other Audition drum people.

Please help me, it's driving me crazy
So I just started using Audition, and it's all well. But I can't figure out why this happens. When I record voice on a new empty track with the Recording arm toogle on and only this track selected for some reason audio clip gets copied from track above and linked together with it's copy. When I click "convert to unique copy" and delete the pink one whole program fails and stops and I loose all my work. And it happend 3 times already.

Sidechain ignoring release time
Hi! First time using sidechain and I'm struggling a bit. I've got a dynamics processing set up on Bus A and a Send Side-Chain on Track 1 which connects to the Bus A dynamics processing. The Dynamics Processing is set up to have a 2000ms release time on both Level Detector and Gain Processor, yet as soon as it gets quiet on Track 1 the volume goes right back up.
The release seems to work alright most of the time, as if I lower the release I can hear the music go up and down between every word, but when the track is empty, the side chain seems to turn off. I've tried adding something to the track and turning the volume down, but it doesn't seem to have any effect.
I'm sure it's user error and something I'm not understanding, but I would be very happy if someone could help me figure out what the issues is so I can learn for the future!

Getting rid of spectral decay?
So I'm unfortunately having this issue with a lot of my audio recently (I don't record it so please don't say 'get better at recording' cause I'm not the one doing it). I have a lot of spectral decay so a lot of sentences end with this fuzzy hissing sound that I cannot get rid of for the life of me without manually deleting it and even then it can't be deleted sometimes without taking out the upper pitches of the voice. I'm looking for a more efficient way to get rid of this noise, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I've already tried, noise reduction, hiss reduction, de-esser, multiband and single band compressor, de-reverb in various orders

Adobe Audition > Revised WideOrbit Write Plugin
For years, I have been so annoyed by the dialog box that pops up every time I export an audio file to the WideOrbit automation system using the WO Write plugin for Adobe CC. So I had ChatGPT analyze the code and remove the dialog box popup when saving the file. I tested the new AMIO plugin and it works perfectly. So I am sharing it with the world.

How To Seamlessly Remix the End of One Clip to the Beginning of Another?
My backing track has a soft piece of piano music I want through out my project. Only the first 15 seconds is usable, because after that, the track adds other instruments that I don't want.
I can easily cut the first 15 seconds out, and apply the remix function in Audition to extend this to any length I want. And Audition perfectly finds transition points that are seamless.
The problem is, I want to preserve the very end of the original audio clip, and tack it on the end. It has a nice outro that ends the track. When I just use a crossfade in Premier Pro, the transition is too obvious.
Is there a way for Audition to perform a similar remix function on the end of my outro part of the original, so it also seamlessly finds a way to join these together? As it did in the other remix process?

Seemingly simple question I'm too dumb to figure out
I want to use Speech Volume Leveler. It works great. BUT... every little inhaled breath gets amplified to a scorching gasp. How can I filter out just those inhales without going through the entire file and manually reducing the volume each time?

Show Me Yours, I'll Show You Mine (multitrack timeline)
Hi all. Jason from Adobe here. As posting your timeline is something fairly common in the NLE/editing world, I thought I'd start this week by posting a screenshot of a recent session. As you can see, I continue to track everything live and will typically play to a click more, so that I can freely move things in (relative) time while maintaining the feel of live performance. I don't use MIDI sequencing (not since '91) so AU makes sense for me and the work I do.
Many have asked why I haven't moved to Logic (or back to ProTools, where I started some 30+ years ago) and the reason is: I still love Audition. Granted, I work for Adobe... but I still love this app and it's been a part of my production life for more than 25 years (and I'll defend the editor/waveform view until the end; I've yet to find any editor that can really compare)
So...what's your multitrack look like? Let's share what we're working on!

Delete Silence targeting large chunks of audio in longer audio files (2026)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This title was from a post @Wembledon_Shanley made 6 years ago, and it's still happening.
(FTR, defining silence "For more than 2000" does work, but it's not ideal since it leave a lot of silence that you would otherwise want gone). 2026-07-18

RX Plugin within Audition - where are the options?
I'm finally setting up an effects stack for my dialogue in Adobe Audition. I want this to include the Izotope RX Mouth De-click plugin. I add the plugin via the Audition Plugin Manager, but I don't get any of the options appearing, or any of the presets in the dropdown menu. I simply have "custom".
Is there a way of using RX plugins properly within Audition, or will I have to close the audio in Audition and re-open in RX to do what I want to do in there, then re-open in Audition to continue?
I am using Izotope RX 7 on Mac silicon and Adobe Audition CC.
Pics below show 1) How the plugin appears in Audition 2) How it appears within RX.

Cross-posted to the Izotope board.

Why is Adobe Audition not picking up my M-Track Duo?
Hi all, I am just wondering why Adobe Audition is not picking up my M-Track Duo that is paired with my Shure SM7DB. When i tap on my mic, the light on my M-Track flashes, (but it's is also constantly flashing) so I know that it is picking up my microphone. However when I tap or speak into my mic, audition does not pick up any sound. I have tried solutions from google, such as making sure the sample rate is the same etc., switching the device class to ASIO, however nothing has worked. Any help is appreciated.

Why does my YouTube video sound quieter even though itâs at -14 LUFS?
Iâm trying to understand YouTube loudness because something isnât adding up.
My video shows Content Loudness: -14 dB / -14 dB in YouTubeâs Stats for Nerds, so it seems like itâs right at YouTubeâs target. However, when I compare it directly to creators like Jesse James West or MrBeast, my video sounds noticeably quieter even though their videos also show -14 / -14.
Why would this happen?
My understanding was that if YouTube normalizes everything to the same loudness target, videos should sound roughly equally loud. But thatâs clearly not what Iâm hearing.
Is this because of:
- Better dynamic range/compression?
- Higher average dialogue levels?
- More controlled peaks?
- Perceived loudness vs. LUFS?
- Something else entirely?
Iâm measuring my mix at around -14 LUFS integrated before uploading, and YouTube isnât turning it down. Yet their videos still sound much louder and more energetic.
Has anyone figured out what the difference is?
