Hi there, I'm very interested in the Human Systems Engineering – User Experience (BS) Degree Program, but academically, I have an Art background and would like more insight into what this program entails before signing up. (Professionally, I've been working as a Paralegal.) Hi everyone! I’m taking ACC 231 during Session A and I have Exam 1 coming up. For anyone who has taken the class before, do you have any tips on what to focus on when studying?

Also, what is the exam format like? Is it mostly multiple choice, or are there problems where you have to type/write out answers and calculations?

I also saw a staircase with weird half floors and a closed of basement (I know it used to be for news or something but they moved out). To recap last post I discussed Hopes history and heavy shepherding, today I’m going to discuss status, heircharchy, and power structure.

To understand why people stay at Hope, and even join staff, a position where they have to raise their own salary, and most staff can’t raise enough to support themselves. It’s about status and incentives. We’ll start with women. Hope recruits women very heavily, particularly sorority/althetes this is in part with how Hope handles dating. I think Nietzsches will to power is very accurate in describing a lot of Hope members life philosophy. Hope heavily monitors dating and controls it. I’ve already Hope basically arranges marriages for staff, it’s in staff’s contract they have to date staff(that’s important.) They do this through women… women are indoctrinated very heavily and only hang around other hope girls, this makes the barriers to leaving very high as social circles are very important to us girls. If Hope can make it to we’re all of girls friends are at Hope they will most of the time fall in line and stay no matter what. They control men through the women, it’s the reason most people at Hope aren’t permitted to date until later, dating means time away from campus, and that’s time away from recruiting. Hope sets up what women should be attracted to and men go after it. Hope women “want” a guy who’s involved in the church, high up(status), and approved by their superiors.

Members gain status by recruiting, obeying leaders, participating in events. I will go into there theology in a later post, but right now focus on recruiting. This is why they good after frat guy, sorority girls, athletes, and overall good looking people and if you can bring one of them in that’s a really good looking people for you as far as status. This is also why people will go on staff to become campus missionaries who have to raise their own salary. It basically garentees you a wife, as the don’t necessarily arrange marriages but put a lot of pressure on you this is where the approval of you leaders come in. If you obey the, you can produce results recruiting and they like you they will give you lots of benefits. So Hope heavily controls dating you need the approval of your shepherd and this is to control for campus time and give people an incentive to recruit and recruit hard. This is very obvious if you look at how members act. A lot of the staff get drunk , they’ve basically thrown frat parties, and I know this one guy who smashed this girl on staff right now, do think her boyfriend will ever figure out? On top of that the pastors own son got some girls pregnant out of wedlock. If also heard from someone who went there longer than me than his third service “pastor” Brian and his son were on stage because his son lied, literally beat the shıt out of himself, lied and said he got jumped. Two supervisors I’ve heard one while on staff was taking a late night drive with some girl he was probably leading on the other while on staff had some chick butt naked in his bed. Sex, alcohol, and just overall fakeniss are common at Hope. Just ask pastor Brian who lives in a mansion in like north Scottsdale and doesn’t even believe in his own teachings because he disobeyed his shepherdeds to start Hope. To close I’ll be going over their theology and why the believe what they believe and again I ask pastor Brian. You say if your leaders say one thing and you hear another from God you’re wrong, unconditional submission to authority. Then why did you leave faith Christian church to start hope just to be accused of the same things? Money, power, status, attention?

I’m a 4+1 comp sci major in my senior year. I had to take Calc II and III for credit, and I ended up enjoying them more than I thought I would (Van De Sande the GOAT). I’ve kinda got all my credits atp and I just gotta find classes to take for myself + grad credit stuff while I finish up capstone. Is Adv Calculus I going to be an insane workload or is it manageable alongside other stuff?

I am desperate for help 🙏. I am trying to apply for a job on workday but every time I log in I get the error screen i’ve attached. I already called the asu tech desk and they have opened a ticket but I was hoping someone else has gone through this and found a solution. The job posting closes tomorrow night so I doubt the ticket will be resolved by then.

I feel like every single day, I’m just getting more and more irritated. It’s THE FIRST OF SEPTEMBER! This is absolute BS. Sorry not sorry but this is a massive fail. I don’t need to be schooled on the BBB or staffing issues or clarification, I just need to vent. (I’m also sick of the censorship in this thread, why can’t I vent to fellow students?! I know this‘ll get taken down in a few hours because oh no, I’m crap talking about ASU.) Make it make sense. I’ve been checking on the finances tab day in and day out, waiting for updates, BEGGING for updates. I literally can’t fix my car until I get this money. I’m so screwed. I’ve been car-less for weeks and it’s driving me mad. I miss my independence. I miss having the privilege to drive myself to work in the damn morning, to drive anywhere I want whenever I want. My first paycheck from my new job doesn’t hit until September 15th...When I called the financial aid office and asked about a timeline, I finally was like, “Okay so now what, is there a possibility we could be waiting until December?” Her response, “I don’t know, I hope that isn’t the case. Our team is working blah blah blah.” I don’t understand why they can’t just prioritize undergraduate students who have LITTLE to ZERO changes. I know for a fact that I have zero changes to my FA package. I don’t understand why that can’t be expedited. It doesn’t make sense for me to wait when the numbers are going to be the same. SAME for other students in the same boat like ughhhh.

Okay for context I’m an online, out of state student with ASU because my tuition is fully covered through my job. I chose ocean futures (marine bio) as my major because that’s genuinely what I want to do, but I haven’t been to school in 3 years and am super rusty on math. Like to the point where I’ve had to relearn stuff from high school from the ground up. I pretty much knew just up to about Pre-Calculus.

I have my ALEKS placement exam too and I know no matter how much I study there’s no way I’m even placing into precalc. My question is since I’m online and i’ll have to take lower level math courses to catch up to Calculus for Life Sciences, will I have to pay out of pocket? Does anyone know? I start classes in the October session and I was going to ask my advisor at my first appointment next week if it’ll genuinely be an issue.

I have no problem taking lower level classes and having to catch up, I’ve just accepted that’s whats going to have to happen and I may graduate a little late. I just hope I don’t have to pay out of pocket for having to start at the lowest level math because I graduated high school 3 years ago and barely remember a lot of it. Some of it I’m picking back up on but regardless i’m not even near even precalculus yet.

I’m not necessarily bad at math and I was a year ahead in high school, I’ve literally just forgotten so much and need a lower level course. I’ve always known I wanted to be a STEM major, life just got in the way to where I ended up taking 3 gap years of just working.

Dear State Press Editors,
I am reaching out with a potential story concerning what appears to be a widespread Fall 2026 financial aid problem at ASU. I initially began pursuing this because of my own Graduate PLUS loan, but after speaking with other students and reviewing the discussion now taking place across the ASU community, I believe my situation is only one example of a much larger issue involving federal aid changes, delayed or disappearing awards, students struggling to reach Financial Aid, limited escalation options, and concerns about how visible these problems are allowed to become within student spaces.
This semester is also unusual because it is the first affected by major federal student-loan changes under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. ASU itself has advised students that the new provisions took effect July 1, 2026 and affect Fall 2026 borrowing, including the elimination of Graduate PLUS for new borrowers, new graduate and Parent PLUS borrowing limits, enrollment-based loan adjustments, and separate legacy provisions for qualifying existing borrowers. The transition appears to have created substantial uncertainty for students trying to understand which rules apply to them and why previously expected aid is changing or remaining in processing.
The scale of the concern is visible in r/ASU, where there is now effectively an entire highlighted financial-aid megathread devoted to the situation. Students there are reporting very different but serious consequences: some have no financial aid offer at all and remain stuck in “File in Queue”; some report federal or PLUS loans disappearing or showing $0; others report administrative holds, delayed refunds, or scholarships that have not posted. Several students are discussing whether they may have to drop their Fall classes because they cannot afford thousands of dollars out of pocket, and others have said they cannot purchase textbooks while waiting for their refunds. Students are also reporting extremely long phone queues and emails going unanswered for extended periods.
In many respects, I am actually more fortunate than some of the students posting there. I at least have a Graduate PLUS award that remains visible as accepted in my Award Summary. My problem is that it has simultaneously shown as $0 and “Loan Processing” elsewhere in My ASU and has not applied to my tuition. As of August 14, only my $1,500 university grant has applied. I am a full-time doctoral student and rely on my financial aid for tuition, required course materials, and living expenses, but I recognize that other students appear to be facing the possibility of having no aid package at all or potentially withdrawing from the semester.
What has concerned me just as much as the processing problem is the difficulty obtaining meaningful assistance when something goes wrong. I have used Financial Aid chat repeatedly, experienced disconnections after waiting through most of the queue, and called at least three previous times with waits of approximately seven hours or more. On August 14, I entered the phone queue again and was number 864 at one point. I also specifically requested an appointment with a financial aid counselor so my situation could be reviewed comprehensively. A Financial Aid representative subsequently told me that the request/ticket had been deleted because the office was being inundated with requests.
I have tried to be very conscious of the extraordinary workload Financial Aid employees are facing. There are thousands of students who need assistance, and I do not believe my situation should receive priority simply because I am persistent. I began trying to address this proactively because I wanted to avoid reaching the beginning of the semester with an emergency. After learning that my counselor request had been deleted, I contacted the ASU Ombuds Office rather than immediately escalating publicly. My concern is therefore not simply “my aid is late.” It is whether ASU currently has an effective escalation or grievance process for students whose time-sensitive financial aid problems cannot be resolved through an overwhelmed general phone or chat queue.
A related issue arose when I tried to ask other students on r/ASU whether they were experiencing the same problem and what they had learned from Financial Aid. Two of my posts were removed. When I asked the moderators which specific subreddit rule I had violated, I was not given one. Instead, I was told: “No one here will be able to help with your very specific question. That has to go through Financial Aid. This is explained in the Megathread pinned at the top of the subreddit. We will not be reinstating your post.”
I understand why moderators consolidate repetitive questions, and I do not want to allege intentional censorship without evidence. However, I think there is a legitimate public-interest question here. I was not asking Reddit users to resolve my account; I was asking students to compare experiences, identify patterns, share what they had been told, and determine whether a problem was isolated or widespread. Another student subsequently provided information that helped me formulate more specific questions for Financial Aid, demonstrating the practical value of that peer discussion. When an evolving issue affecting tuition, books, housing, living expenses, and potentially students’ ability to remain enrolled is confined largely to one thread, it may also make the scale and continued development of the problem less visible to the broader ASU community.
I believe the larger story is therefore not about one delayed loan or one removed Reddit post. It is about how ASU is managing an unprecedented federal financial-aid transition, how many students are being affected, what happens when the support system becomes overwhelmed immediately before classes begin, whether students have a meaningful grievance or escalation pathway, and whether students are able to openly document and compare what they are experiencing.
I have substantial documentation available, including screenshots of my financial aid status, my accepted award, account activity, communications regarding my attempts to obtain assistance, my Ombuds escalation, phone records documenting lengthy waits, removed Reddit posts, moderator correspondence, and discussions from other affected students. I would welcome independent verification from ASU Financial Aid, university leadership, the Ombuds Office, r/ASU moderators, and other students.
I am not asking The State Press to take my side. I am asking whether this warrants independent reporting because I believe the experiences being described by students suggest a much larger story than my individual case. I would be happy to provide a concise timeline, screenshots, or speak with a reporter if your newsroom is interested in looking into it.

Is it just an internet running joke at this point, or is there actual history behind why ASU gets singled out so much compared to other big universities that should have the same reputation if not much worse? What’s the story here?
