Famously, other countries offered Zelenskyy evacuation from Ukraine (which they expected to fall in a few days), and he answered (paraphrasing) "I don't need a ride - I could use some ammo, though."

The dude was a light comedic TV actor, and assuming he survives and keeps his country mostly intact, probably goes down as one of the history's great wartime leaders.

The quote is badass, actually staying in country is more badass. Fighting off Russia when literally the most optimistic people in the West thought the best Ukraine would do is bloody Russia's nose until a settlement was negotiated. When Russia spent time trying to directly kill/capture you, personally. When you realize that the US wasn't a reliable ally, and keep fighting on. When you build a home grown, grass roots drone industry, that will probably dramatically alter warfare for the next 50 years. When you defeat the Russian Navy without a navy.
