I'm pro Ukraine but was that dam thing confirmed to be Russia? I remember it being ambiguous because there was arguably strategic value for Ukraine to cut them off via flooding at the time. But I haven't been keeping up for all I know there were multiple dam strikes

At the time of the dam explosion, Ukraine's most powerful missiles were Himars launchers with standard missiles, not even Atacamas. It took a couple dozen of these missiles to destroy the bridge in Kherson, and even then, it wasn't completely destroyed; it was riddled with holes. Dams are VERY strong. It would take a huge number of missiles, each carrying 500-1,000 kg of explosives, to destroy one. According to media reports, the explosion occurred internally; in fact, such a structure can only be destroyed from within. The Russians did this to flood the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions of Ukraine, at least temporarily, to halt the Ukrainian Armed Forces' advance.
