Even if they weren't friendly, it'd be really difficult to do much damage to the US without severely compromising their own positions. Pretty much everything relevant in Canada is within 100 miles of the US along a completely indefensible border. Mexico would similarly struggle, they have a better position defensively but trying to strike anything north of the Carolinas would be a struggle, and most of their industry is in the North right along the US border.

Not that I'm expecting this to ever actually come to effect, but the US has ridiculous defensive geography, to the point where it feels like cheating.

I know, I’m just making a joke since historically, it’s always been a positive for the US that it’s friendly with its only neighbors that share a land border. But recent events have strained those relationships.

My overall point is that most of the unfriendly countries are far out of drone strike range at this point so it’s still not something US cities have to worry about.

But if Canada did create a drone program, they have a massive area of land to launch them from to hit US cities. So if we did tried to do that idiotic thing of going to war with Canada, American cities getting bombed would be very likely. And if the rest of NATO does their obligation, it would be the full force of The UK, France, Turkey, Italy, Germany, etc.

most of the world's major powers have really good geography. the UK being an island whose navy can control the North Atlantic on the european side, Japan for obvious reasons being almost impossible to launch a full land invasion on, india being a peninsula with the himalayan range separating it from the rest of Asia and naval control over the Indian Ocean. even germany is pretty good. australia isn't great from an offensive perspective but has even better defensive geography than the US.

The major downside of Australia is also its location. It is so far from allies which makes it incredibly difficult to reach to help defend or resupply.

Also, what the heck would we even hold that is worth invading us anyway? The logistical nightmare alone from trying to get to us is already not worth whatever resources we hold.
