I’m trying to track down a complete recording of one of the more unusual games in Texas Tech football history: Tech vs. Oklahoma State at the Tokyo Dome in December 1988.
It was the Coca-Cola Classic. Tech and Billy Joe Tolliver put up 42 points, but Oklahoma State won 45–42 behind Barry Sanders, who had just been announced as the Heisman Trophy winner.
I’ve been digging through archival records and found something interesting: Texas Tech’s Southwest Collection/Special Collections Library actually has four audio cassettes labeled “Texas Tech versus Oklahoma State in Tokyo, Japan,” dated December 4, 1988. Their Sports Information Recording Collection also contains a video labeled “Texas Tech Defense vs. Oklahoma State Offense, December 4, 1988.”
So some of the original material definitely survived.
What I haven’t been able to locate is a complete television broadcast or complete video of the game.
I’m posting here because there’s a decent chance a former Tech student, player, staff member, booster, or longtime Red Raider fan recorded the game or has an old athletic-department copy sitting somewhere.
Does anyone remember seeing a complete recording, owning a VHS of it, or knowing someone associated with the Spike Dykes-era program who kept old game tapes?
I’m also interested in any recollections about how people in Lubbock followed the game at the time, since the Tokyo time difference made it an unusual broadcast situation.

I have a 3.67 unweighted GPA, 4.01 weighted. I have a 1200 SAT and I’d say my extracurriculars are decent (Scholastic Art and Writing awards, NEHS officer, part of HOSA and UNICEF) and my rank is 267/780. I’m planning on majoring in psychology.

Hello everyone.
Has anyone taken Molecular Biochem with Jeremy T. Mason or has heard about him that could provide tips for succeeding in his class?
I’ve heard very little about him and his ratemyprofessor reviews are primarily from intro chemistry courses. Those that do exist from this course are somewhat dated, but I’m really worried for this class.

Does anyone have any insight on the online+ degrees? Could anyone who has taken a online + class please tell me the difference between a online and a online + class? I am looking at the Master in Leadership Studies.

What’s the res hall password? Tech refuses to upgrade the net WiFi plan even with the boat load of freshman we just got so everywhere is spotty.

By the time Texas Tech opened its doors in 1925, the massive oil field in its backyard had been discovered and divvied up, with some 2 million acres set aside for UT in Austin and Texas A&M in College Station, per the state constitution. Oil has been shaping the geographic and psychological terrain of Texas Tech’s football rivalries ever since.
For much of its history, Texas Tech was a roughneck cousin of the more well-heeled schools to the east, getting by on gumption and spite. Today, the landscape is changing. The Red Raiders have money, facilities, talent and a group of motivated boosters hell-bent on getting Texas Tech to the top.
And not everyone is happy about it.
“People just don’t like disruptions in the way they think things should be ordered,” said Cody Campbell, the former Texas Tech offensive lineman who made his fortune in the oil and gas industry and leads Texas Tech’s cadre of donors. “We’ve certainly been a disruptor.”

I have applied to tech for the fall 2027 semester and Have a 3.7 gpa unweighted and am rank 296/772. I submitted my SAT score but it is below average and is a score of 1070. I am very involved in school as I am in National English Honors society, National Honors society, key club, cheer, National Charity League and have over 500 community hours. My essays I think are also good (including scholarship essays). Feedback is highly appreciated!

Hi all!
Sorry if this question doesn't belong. I'm an American in an international master's program and one of my friends decided to go stateside for her PhD. Problem is, she signed a lease and then the embassy put her in administrative processing afterwards. She won't be able to come over this year anymore.
As I said, I'm from the states, but I'm from way up north. How do y'all handle people taking over leases? Where do you advertise it? Any help would be appreciated. 🙏

Does anyone else feel like Texas Tech's websites are difficult to navigate with information everywhere?
I am a graduate student and the UX/UI of Texas Tech's websites are so clonky and not friendly to the users. On top of that, the webpages for the university often lead to a 404 error and not found.
How are fellow students dealing with this?

I’m currently in Calc 1 as a freshman majoring in Mechanical Engineering and honestly I was looking forward to it because back where I’m from over my 4 years in high school and especially my last my math teachers honestly sucked. But now that I’m in tech I feel behind I don’t understand what I’m being taught and I feel like I’m just writing down what he’s writing on the board while not understanding a thing. Maybe I just have a bad foundation but I also really didn’t want to (in my eyes) waste a year in college algebra or some bridge course all because of where I came from. I feel like I could possibly and will possibly have to self teach myself outside of this class which are 110 minute periods on Tuesday and Thursdays which would be slightly manageable but at that point I feel like taking calc online would make more sense schedule wise and work load wise. Please any advice or help would well help.

Can I park in the parking lot near the Greek life neighborhood without a pass? I rode my bike to and from campus but I was curious if I could park there every now and then

Is anyone else having trouble getting into Canvas on a computer? I’ve never seen this happen before.
