Art Stein um Stein discussion

I recently listened to Stein um Stein in Reise, Reise. It was really a crazy listening experience. Probably the strongest emotional response I've had to any of their songs. The gentle guitar at the beginning radiates hopelessness. That feeling when your stomach drops because you know what's coming. Dread sets in. The tone in which Till starts the song is with sinister intent. Completely evil and he knows it. He knows that you know it. "Stein um Stein" doesn't come in super surprisingly. But it comes in hard enough to make you react. Just like if you know you're going to get hit but you flinch anyway, because its the normal response. The cascading guitar riff during this phrase project an image of the house being built in my opinion. It's closing in. And notice that it's Stone by Stone, not brick by brick. Stone is more immovable, more primal, more jagged. This is my general impression of the song. Instills dread, you expect the next strike with resignation. Powerless and controlled. Notice there's no resistance against the abuser. No screams were heard from the "house" maybe because you never tried to scream.

Chad Kruspe and his biggest fan named Till

I just read an old interview from Richard (2019) an almost died laughing and thought I would share it here, maybe someone else finds it funny too.

Interviewer: Did you live together?

Richard: Yes, Till and I lived together. I brought him to Berlin and convinced him to make music in the first place. Till used to be a fan of mine! He would always carry my guitar case into the rehearsal room.

Songs that are better live than in the studio

Rammstein are known for both having one of the best and most flawless discographies of them all and for their legendary live shows. However, I asked myself on which songs actually sounds better live, and tried to identify songs that come across significantly better live than in their album versions.

My opinion (in chronological order):
Asche zu Asche, Seemann, Heirate mich, Laichzeit, Rammstein, Sehnsucht, Engel, Links 234, Ich will, Feuer frei, Los, Zerstören, Rammlied, Wiener Blut, Radio, Was ich liebe, Tattoo, Armee der Tristen, Angst.

There are ofc way more songs that are absolutely amazing live but in most cases I still think the album version is just as good or even better.

Overall, going through all of the albums, I think Herzeleid works better live bc the studio sound simply isn't that good for their own standard. Sehnsucht and Mutter are fantastic on both. Reise, Reise and Rosenrot for me are clear studio albums rather than live bangers. LIFAD is mixed. Untitled works on both but you can tell that the band intended to write songs that also work for their stadium tour and it worked out. Zeit then again for me is a clear studio album. Their choices for the live shows also reflect that. Many fans tend to complain about the lack of Rosenrot or Zeit songs being played at live but I honestly think it's justified. Not bc the albums aren't good, they are, but bc they're simply not that suited for live shows compared to other ones.

What do you think?

Question about authenticity from 2001

Moin moin!

I wanted to ask you guys about the authenticity of my signed Sehnsucht CD sleeve from Summer of 2001. Here is the backstory.

I joined the Rammstein fan club I wanna say in April of 2001. During the Summer of 2001 Rammstein did their Mutter tour. They played an old club in DC which I used to go to called Nation which sadly has long since been demolished. I remember after the show I waited outside to see if any of the band members would come out and sign some stuff. Rammstein motivated me to learn German back in 98 when I was with my dad in Munich and purchased Sehnsucht at a Saturn ,,Geiz ist geil!“ after watching Du Hast on MTV a few weeks prior. Since then I was an exchange student in 02-03 and got my Bachelor’s degree in Heidelberg. So they had a huge impact on my life! Anyways sadly they never showed up that night.

The next day I wrote to the webmaster because one of the features of the fan club back then was meet and greets. I explained to them that Rammstein motivated me to learn German and that I was about to enter my senior year in high school and was hoping to someday live in Germany. The webmasters were very friendly and asked for my address. About a week later an envelope arrives. Inside were two promo cards which I know were auto pen because of the indentures and I compared them to other promo cards from that time. However, in a plastic bag was a CD sleeve from Sehnsucht. The signatures look like live ink and were different from the promo cards signed in auto pen. I framed it back in 2002 with anti glare museum glass and a few years ago brought it back from VA to Miami where it’s now hanging on my wall.

So my question is do you guys think the signatures are real? I was curious about your thoughts. I found this one website which has a similar CD sleeve which was signed at a meet and greet in 97 at World of Music at Galeria Kaufhof next to Ostbahnhof in Berlin here. I’d never sell it but I was just wondering after all of these years. Thank you reading and letting me share my story!

Vielen Dank jungs!

Shot this for a good price!
It has the Sunflare tag so I’m confident that it’s very old, also the Heart on the chest is something they haven’t used after the Sehnsucht era (as far as I know, correct me if I’m wrong)
I just like to know to what time it released since I’m collecting old merch pieces 🙂‍↕️

Does Rammstein have any happy songs/songs with happy meanings?

Their songs are all so dark and disturbing, songs about dying, cannibalism, incest, orphans, murder, etc.

Don't get me wrong, that's part of the reason I love Rammstein, but it makes me curious if they have any songs with genuinely happy meanings.

Is there a diffrence between the made in germany, single and normal mutter version of links 2 3 4?

I feel like there is but its so small I cant tell the difference. Besides the fact that both single and made in germany dont have the cut off ending as the album version does

Official Shop Question

Hello, fellow lovers of Rammstein! 🤘
Quick question: I’m looking to buy a shirt (or two) from the official U.S. online shop, but I’m wondering about the sizing.

Has anyone here purchased a shirt from their official shop before? I normally wear a 2XL, but I’m wondering if I should go with a 3XL to account for any potential shrinkage after washing.

Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated!
Also… which shirt design should I get? 😂 I’m having a hard time choosing!

The atmosphere? Richard’s solo? The chorus?? It‘s phenomenal to me, when I first heard it I genuinely thought it was one of R+’s bigger songs…

Nebel is Till's peak as a lyricist

In my opinion, Nebel is easily one of the best ever songs of the band. It's so beautiful and yet so sad. So cinematic but yet so realistic. The song describes the cruelty of life and time better than any other song I've ever heard.

I think almost everyone is aware of the genral story that the song tells. To put it simply, it’s about a couple facing the end of their time together as the woman lies dying. They stand at the edge of the sea, bound by years of shared history, fully aware that these are her final moments. She can barely speak, so she just asks for one last kiss.

On its own, this setup is already a cinematic masterpiece. But what transforms Nebel into the best balad the band has ever written is the last line. "Der letzte Kuss ist so lang her. Der letzte Kuss, er erinnert sich nicht mehr" (The last kiss was so long ago. The last kiss, he no longer remembers")

This is where the song abandons romantic fantasy for brutal realism. The horror isn't just that she died, it's that life kept going. As decades pass, the agonizing weight of that final kiss slowly erodes. Life relentlessly demands to be lived, and the survivor eventually moves on, creates a new life and perhaps also just finds new love. The moment that once felt like the tragic center of his entire universe quietly shrinks into an insignificant detail, until it vanishes from his mind entirely.

That is the true cruelty of time. She dies a second, permanent death not when her heart stops, but when the final memory of her last breath dissolves into nothingness.

What makes the final line of Nebel the absolute peak of Till’s writing is that it completely rejects romantic fantasy in favor of a devastating truth. Most tragic songs rely on the cliché that love conquers all andthat even in death, grief will keep a memory alive forever. Till shatters that myth in just nine simple German words. He forces us to face the quietest, most unmerciful side of existing, that physical death isn't the end of the tragedy, oblivion is.

Time doesn't just steal the people we love, it erodes our very capacity to hold onto them. It transforms the single most heart-wrenching moment of a person's life into a meaningless, forgotten blip. That sheer, cold realism delivered without theatrical gore or shock value, just pure emotional gravity is why those final lines aren't just heartbreaking, but for me the most powerful lyric Till has ever written.
