I've been playing OpenTTD casually for awhile, and the NewGRF packs have been interesting, but I haven't played with them too much. Using the in-game lookup has been overwhelming.
I did install a streetcar pack (2CC Tram Set 1) since the base game TRAGICALLY doesn't include any. But the sheer amount of streetcars this pack offers is honestly a bit much for me.
I like how the base game has a few different options for vehicles, and they represent a natural evolution of technology (i.e. a couple steamers, a couple diesels, etc.).
I also saw on the steam page horse-drawn wagon which I find particularly interesting, as I like the evolving technology aspect.
I'd appreciate a solid set of recommendations for some packs that offer a range of tech without an overwhelming number of options. Also, how easy is it to make a custom NewGRF pack, or tweak one that exists?
I added a picture of my current game, which is the Taiga starting at 1900. I did not realize only the streetcars would be available. I was very excited when I unlocked the first bus lol

My normal train length is 7, and I've been running this map since 1850. Is there just any way I can handle this Many passengers on this line? What upgrades do I need to make?

Is there a place to download previous versions of NewGRFs or AXIS 2.2.0 in particular? I only see the new 2.3 versions in the in-game downloader. TIA

And I have a question: I didn't want to destroy the farmland by building roads, so I connected them via bridges and underpasses (Strathlow Transfer, Lendon Green Heights, Lendon Green West). Does that make sense?
The most chill game I've ever played. I like it.

Hi! Question: why is this city growing so slow?
I have similar cities and they grow every 23 days. Is it because of the train station?
Black = high-speed; blue = intercity; purple = interregional. Here is a map showing long-distance services before the high-speed lines were constructed. Local services and stations are not shown on these maps.

I'm losing my mind the game keeps crashing. I don't know what's wrong everything on my PC works perfectly except OpenTTD. After upgrading my CPU to a 9800X3D and doing a clean Windows install, OpenTTD runs for... a whole five minutes, then starts stuttering badly, and eventually crashes. I've scoured the forums, but nothing helps please help.
Hey Folks Look what I got at Gamescom this year 😍
Was so cool talking to that employee about the good old days before the Atari deal and all that crazy cool hours I still have in Chris Sawyers games these days
Actually missed the new Rollercoaster Tycoon Demo but seen it in the warmup show
Did anyone know if the OpenTTD devs go to some other conventions like FOSDEM or similar?
I haven’t seen many examples of firs maps posted here. This is my first attempt at one, and I only use trains and buses in cities.

Due to my mainline extension to connect more cities to the network, I had to upgrade my mainline in highly busy areas to a prototypical 4 track layout and I have to say it works quite nicely.
(Inner tracks are high priority while outer tracks are lower priority. Crossovers are installed before the beginning of each junction)

...and just look at the trains go.
Am I the only one? I can't be, right?
I like to start on 1950, take 10 or 20 years to build a train network connecting the biggest cities across the map, make transfer station so I don't have slow trains going across the map, use trams in the cities to connect them to the stations since they are not always in the city center.
I always make two double tracks across the main directives+ double tracks to the other areas.
By the 80s the cities are gown enough to require the fast electric trains to start to turn the network into feeders/local services and intercity/regional/main services and I adjust the network accordingly, usually small adjustments since the 4 tracks can take an enormous amount of trains.
I play with symmetric passengers.
Anyone playing similarly? Suggestions and improvements?
I just like to look at the train network deliver passengers with hundreds and hundreds of busy trains.

Train #27 keeps getting stuck at the entrance to this station. There are no other trains at the station, and if I give it an order to ignore signals it goes in and the rest of the route goes as intended. The other train I have going to this station can go in and out no problem, but this one refuses to enter by itself. Any ideas on why this is happening and how I can fix it?

This is Intercity Express Line F. You can see a geographical map of this route on the minimap in this post. Note the train overtaking the stopping services B and C at 03:20 and 04:45, respectively.

Is there any discussion reffering the title ongoing ? Or will we have to wait for Atari to recycle the franchise to the consoles ?

I'm using the NARS newgrf which is why I'm starting in 1877.
Red is mainline, blue is a branch line to a station
