I was once on jury duty. All of us came to a guilty conclusion after a few hours except for one lady who didn’t want to convict him because she felt bad he would go to jail.

we almost had the same situation... 1 person felt that the Old man(80ish) who was going 55 in a 30 WHILE INTOXICATED and ran into someone walking .. shouldn't be convicted for it becuase.."he is on a fixed income and getting convicted would be too hard on him".. they didn't even respond to th 20something that he hit and seriously injured them.."they have plenty of time to recover" was literally thier attitude. didn't mater to them that he could have easily killed them... "well that didn't happen"

finally was only able to get them to listen after the judge ordered them that they must follow the instrucitons. And if they believe he was intoxicated, speeding, OR hit the defendant. that he is guilty and we must return a guilty verdict.. doesn't matter what you feel about it.. she finally relented
