Journal entry Exploring page layouts
I love A6 size but it just felt too small. However recently I have seen people write by just turning the page and suddenly A6 becomes a full ~A5 size.
Suddenly my journals feel so much more portable!
I'm coming to a close with my current B6 journal. I know I have about a 100 pages left, but last month I wrote 120 pages so I don't think Overture is going to last me through September...
I decided to revisit the A6 size since I had a half filled travel journal ready to go. Am loving it though it just feels wasteful if I skip a row but cramped if I don't. I'm exploring other journal methods today including cross-writing. I neat write neater to make my cross-writing more legible but I was pleasantly surprised I could read it at all. How fun!
Items:
Dingbat A6 in Bear Brown (Squared/Gridded)
Pens: Kaweco Marble Ocean (Fine) with Anderillium Moray Eel Green and Hongdian Black Forest (Fine) inked with Anderillium Lionfish Burgundy

Journal entry tarot x coffee x reading
The first Thursday in September, and it’s time for another journal prompt based on a card pull from my tarot deck. This week’s card is the Six of Cups, reversed— suggesting a romanticism or nostalgia for the past with a hint of sadness, or being bored or stuck in old patterns and mindsets having to do with a relationship, career path, or life in general.
I wrote about my own tendency to fall deep into nostalgia and regret for things ending in my life. Therapy and the Buddhist concept of “impermanence” has helped me immensely to accept that life is made up of “seasons”, with the hope that one learns lessons as phases of life always have a natural end (whether we “want” them to or not). It’s okay to be nostalgic about the past, but it’s also important to be present in the present.
This week’s book is This Is How You Lose Her, a beautiful and heartbreaking series of shorter passages about love in its myriad and sometimes confounding forms, by Junot Díaz— and paired with a bright and floral pourover here at home.

After being in a bit of a rut I took myself for a much needed journal coffee date for the first time. On the way I found an absolutely beautiful look out ❤ Promised myself I'd make more time for myself ❤

Discussion/Question Effect of Journaling
I’ve recently started journaling and I think this is probably one of the best decisions I’ve made in this year so far. It helps me keep tabs on my thought patterns and it’s a good reminder in situations where I struggle with negativity. Just writing my thoughts down already feels like I’m making a lot of progress towards being mentally healthier and it already feels kind of liberating to jot down what’s been bothering me for some time. So far I think it’s pretty great and I’m sure I’ll be seeing more benefits in the future. I’m also curious to know how other people are affected by journaling. Is it also therapeutic to you as it is for me ?

Journal entry Besides everything else, it was a good day
I’m enjoying this handwriting stuff because I feel like I can really emphasize on the words and just draw what I’d imagine a certain feeling looks like in my mind.

Journal entry Spiritually and detachment
I'm reading the Shiva Sutras. For most of my life, I've felt disconnected from my birth religion. But during this hard season, I felt drawn to the core teachings, which I hadn't expected.
I'm starting to notice how strongly I attach to specific outcomes and how that causes a lot of suffering. Healthy detachment and what that looks like is something I'm trying to understand.

Journal entry Random journal entry post; 3rd September, 2026, Thursday.
3rd September, 2026, Thursday
I try to distract myself from reality, I run away hoping that when I come back it would be different. But it is not, it is something worse. The absurdity of existence, of consciousness has no meaning. And everyday, it rips me off of all the joys of life. And I try to romanticize it. But what help is that?

Journal entry Lost Atticus to advanced Liver Cancer
Not been journalling much recently because last week I had to let my wee man go and it hurts.
Struggling to find highlights to my days and my pages have basically been - got up, worked, fed the animals, walked the dog, had dinner, watched TV.
I made a page for him which helped. He was such a Huge personality in my life. He is very much missed.

Prompts Journaling through job loss
I lost my job unexpectedly just a few hours ago. I've pretty much been in bed and writing since it happened. I think I am still in shock.
I have an established daily practice, but I write mostly stream-of-consciousness style. I am also a chronic list maker, which will probably come in handy.
I want to be more specific and intentional. Does anyone have suggestions for prompts to use? How did journaling get you through a major loss?

Journal entry Different inks for different parts
I got the idea for a prompt from seeing someone else on here who started with “When I picture my ideal self.” It was a fun prompt and one that led to some thoughts that interested me :)

Discussion/Question Have you ever seen a journaler in the wild and wish you could chat?
I was in the British museum on Monday, it was a bank holiday here in the UK and i thought i'd fill my day with some random things, which turned into a museum trip, a trip to the graphic center, choosing keeping, watkin's books etc etc. All my usual haunts basically.
While i was in the museum, i saw a young woman sat on a bench in one of the darker rooms that was exhibiting things from native American culture, and i could see she was journaling. I really wanted to ask her what notebook she was using as it looked lovely, but being a man, i really don't like disturbing women who are just going about their own business in their day, so i chose not to interrupt her. A part of me regrets it purely because i wanted to know what notebook she was using, and i'd love to find some journaly friends in the UK! Have you guys ever had this kinda thing? i don't often come across people journaling in the open, in fact this is only the third time, and i'm yet to strike up a conversation with someone about it when i see it, and tbh im not even sure if it'd be a good idea!

Discussion/Question Do you keep a travel journal and a main journal or are they one in the same?
I'll be honest, I'm a journal jumper. For me, it's not a big deal because it's less about record keeping and more about processing/self-care/getting things out of my head but we're getting ready to go on a little vacation and the idea of bringing my journal isn't ideal for me because I'm worried I'd lose it, drop it, etc. But I think the idea of also buying a journal for travel journaling is also a bit silly. So I'm turning to the 'more professional than me' type professionals.
Do you keep your travel journal and regular journal in the same book or are they separate?
