Discussion Weekly /r/iOSGaming Discussion: What have you been playing lately and what do you recommend?
Please use this thread to discuss whatever iOS games you've been playing lately. They don't have to be new games, they can be old games and they do not have to be iOS original titles!
As long as it's an iOS game it belongs in here. Make sure to put the name(s) of the game(s) in bold to make it easier for people skimming the thread to see what you're talking about, and if you'd like to make it really convenient turn the game name into a hyperlink that sends people directly to the App Store!
To keep track of the thread, the comments are sorted by "new" by default.
Lastly, Rule #3: "No Dev Self-Promotion Outside Saturdays" applies at all times for this thread, even if it's actually Saturday.

Developer Saturday (Megathread) [Megathread] Developer Saturday Showcase: August 29, 2026 š±
HelloĀ r/iOSGaming! Welcome to another Developer Saturday showcase! In this megathread, iOS developers will be able share their games freely without breaking the subreddit's "no self-promo" rule. Please read the following guidelines carefully before participating:
- Developer Saturday will run betweenĀ 12:00 AM to 11:59PM ET (UTC-5).
- Respect is expected at all times.Ā You're welcome to share your opinions and even disagree with others, but harassment, taunting, or other toxic behavior toward devs, mods, or other community members will not be tolerated.
- If you receive an AutoModerator comment saying you don't have enough karma, your account is too new, or that your CQS level is low,Ā we won't override the removal because these restrictions are meant to be spam detterents.
DEVELOPERS:
- All promo comments must have [DEV] at the beginning.Ā We need it with the brackets for AutoModerator purposes, so please don't change the formatting.
- All promo comments must include an App Store or TestFlight link. Playstore links or links to other gaming stores are not allowed.
- Only officially released iOS games may be shared.Ā This is not the place to promote non-gaming apps, non-iOS apps, Devvit apps, standalone websites, Discord servers, subreddits, livestreams, fundraisers, or social media pages. However, you may include a website or social media link with your game's self-promo comment.
- Only games NEWLY RELEASED this month or have a NEW MAJOR UPDATE may be promoted.Ā Personal milestones (ex: reaching X downloads, earning X amount of pay, recieving high reviews, etc), while commendable, are not an eligible reason for promotion. Additionally, "major" updates are those that introduce new features or content that greatly improves or expands the game. Routine updates (ex: bug fixes, performance improvements, or other minor changes) are also not eligible for promotion.Ā Becasue Dev Sat was paused for a month, games that were released or received a major update in July may also be shared in August).
- You MUST DISCLOSE whether or not AI was used to create the game.Ā If AI was used, you must also explain how it was implemented and/or what assets were created with it (ex: code, illustrations, music, etc). If AI wasn't used in the development of the game, please just state, "No AI was used."
- You may only make one top-level comment per Saturday.Ā However, you can share several games in the same comment if they also meet the above criteria.
GAMERS / REVIEWERS:
- You may only make second-level or lower (reply) comments.Ā This means you can reply to a dev or another user's comment, but you may not create a top-level (standalone) comment.
- Constructive feedback is welcome.Ā You may leave comments that can help devs learn what they did right with their games and what could be improved, but low-effort responses (such as simply calling something "AI slop") will be removed.
- This is not the place to ask for game suggestions.Ā This megathread is for devs to promote their iOS games. If you're looking for recommendations on what to play next, check out the community's weekly "What Have You Been Playing Lately?" megathread or create your own request post on the main subreddit.
That's it! We're still refining these guidelines, but for now these are the requirements developers must meet in order to ensure a successful self-promo comment this week. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us via modmail. Thanks for your cooperation, everyone!

Suggestions Best Auto Battlers
I've been dabbling in auto battlers here and there for the past few weeks and enjoy the quick gameplay and just something I can jump into while at work for a short break or something. But typical to who I am as a gamer I downloaded a couple and have been playing them in kind of a rotation.
Here is what I've downloaded and enjoyed:
Once Upon a Galaxy
Super Auto Pets
Six Hollows
Are there any I should look at or into. I'm playing these as a free to play and not buying any currencies or anything. I don't mind a paid game but I'm not playing the pay to win nonsense if it's a free to play game.
Any other suggestions that are pretty good? Or did I hit the gold mine with OUaG and SAP? Also I know about Knightica coming out in a week or so just I don't know if I want to buy it as I own it on Switch.

Discussion What are your favorite first person dungeon crawlers on iOS?
Iāve been replaying a lot of my old favorites and was wondering if Iām missing anything, new or old. Thereās been a noticeable uptick in indie dungeon crawlers on Steam lately, so I'm hoping a few hidden gems have slipped onto iOS unnoticed.
The first two I ever played on iOS were The Quest and Undercroft. The Quest was great because you could build out your character in a thousand different ways, though at times it almost felt a little too open. My original favorite was Undercroft, which is still open, but a bit more confined and tightly polished. Another great one is QuestLord, which hits that same sweet spot.
More recently, Iāve been playing Gloomgrave on and off. It leans more roguelike than pure exploration; recent updates have added some meat to it, but it can still feel a bit hollow. Legend of Grimrock is another cool one, though Iāll admit I havenāt made it too far on the iPhone version.
A few questions for the community:
- What are you all playing, and what do you recommend?
- Are there any iOS crawlers with strict turn-based combat inside dungeons rather than real-time/reactionary combat?
- What mechanics make these game types great? Is it the environment (visual layout), content (enemies, loot, skills) or Combat (turn-based or active?)

Suggestions Dawncaster
Iāve had this game on my phone for about 3 months but havenāt played it because ive noticed that it requires a bit more of reading and got overwhelmed by all the positive and negative effects your character can get.
Recently (about 3 days ago) I decided to give it a try and started playing. And oh boy, this game cracks. What can I say? I totally miss judged the game and completely underrated it.
- The graphics: really good artwork.
- The characters: plenty of different play styles and combinations which I like.
- The gameplay: flows really good. Itās not as daunting as I expected it to be. Once you get the mechanics it gets easier to read and understand.
- Content: from all the games Iāve played in this genre (balatro, slots and daggers, luck be a landlord) this one has by far the most content to explore.
- addictive in a good way: it aināt as drug inducing as balatro that you must hit it with ājust one more gameā. Usual rounds take like 30 minutes or more, so when you lose, you fill accomplished and at least for me Iām good for now and probably will try another run in a couple hours.
ITS VERTICAL: ITS VERTICAL! Amazing feature (can be also played in landscape)
IMHO give it a try, you wonāt regret it. 10/10 game for sure

Discussion Roco Kingdom sounds super cute from this dev interview
Had my eye on this one for a while, but this developer interview has me even more hype - especially the mention of a "big goose type Jinie"

Question Looking for a PvE single-player auto-battler/TFT clone with endless replayability / content (Buy-to-play, free, or minimal microtransactions)
Hey everyone!
Does anyone know a game that plays like TFT (auto-battler), but strictly PvE / single-player with endless replayability / content (roguelike/lite style)?
Ideally something buy-to-play, totally free, or at least without heavy in-app purchases/P2W. Any recommendations?

Discussion What would convert you to pay for IAPPs?
Hi everyone, to preface, Iām sick and tired of predatory games and am working on some games that donāt suck the life out of you or monetize you to death.
What is the perfect scenario for you?
Iām playing this stupid ad riddled puzzle thing and I paid for add free within a week.
This week I saw their monthly pass and, for whatever reason, thought it was a one time but like an idiot, it reset this month.
But this gave me an idea on monetization:
Basic Google admob ads, ad free IAP, generic resource packs, and a permanent āgame passā.
I think Iād play a game like this, if I like it, I will pay for it⦠but I donāt want to make a game that is basically the same shit everyone else is doingā¦.
Anyway
What makes you try a game?
What makes you pay for it besides liking it?

Question Games on the rise today.
Guys, are the top 3 game genres that are most high today, which is addictive and people are playing a lot, and that can be replicated by a group of small people, in my case 3 people in the team?
Thank you All.

Discussion I love playing roguelike games
Here are the roguelikes I usually play. The fresh experience in every new run keeps me playing endlessly. Playing them on the iPad feels amazing too. I really hope Apple reduces fees for developer accounts because we've already lost way too many great indie games.

Suggestions Baseball games on iOS
Whatās the best right now?
I enjoyed Clutch Hit Baseball for a while but itās kinda stale now.
The Show Mobile, had some of the worst UI I ever experienced but I never really gave it a chance. Is it worth it to give it another go now after months of refinement?
Any other suggestions? I donāt mind gatcha mechanics and donāt mind paying for a full game. Thanks all!
