How did you all got your job

Please don't tell me networking

Long story short I'm in my early to middle twenties. I moved for my masters in a country that I love, I kind of don't want to go back home but that's another story

I have not worked more than 3 months on a job I cant find anything related to my filed of studies even no paying internships ask for 3 years of experience. I don't even have 1 year working combined.

I talked with a counselor at the career service she told me I should do networking. I'm so tired of this advice it simply doesn't work

Genuinely feels like actually working the job would be easier than getting hired for one

There was a time I was crushing programming competitions, writing clean code from scratch, no AI shortcuts, just pure skill, and bosses were genuinely impressed with the systems I could build. Now I’m just… applying and applying, feeling like that version of me doesn’t matter anymore. It’s rough out here. I'm this close 🤏 to being homeless. Maybe being a beggar on the streets is not so bad after all.

6 months, plenty of interviews, zero offers every rejection says “not enough experience” for entry-level roles

I graduated with a CS degree about 6 months ago and I’ve been applying nonstop since. I’ve gotten a decent number of interviews which I thought meant I was doing something right. Every one ends the same. They tell me my resume looks good and my background is solid and they liked talking to me, then they pass because I don’t have enough experience.

These are entry level jobs. Some of them say no experience required in the posting and I still get told I don’t have enough of it.

I’ve got projects, I’ve rewritten my resume more times than I can count, I’ve applied to IT support, junior dev, help desk, and eventually just retail. Couldn’t get hired at Walmart either.

It doesn’t feel like a hurdle anymore it feels like a wall. You need experience to get experience and nobody wants to be the first one to give it to you. I’m doing everything everyone says to do and none of it is working.

Six months of rejection emails messes with your head, not gonna lie. I’m not really looking for sympathy I just want to know what I’m missing.

If you were sitting where I am what would you actually do different?

Even XAI is ghosting

Recently, I applied for the Business Expert - Marketing & Communications role at xAI. I was thrilled to receive an email asking for my availability to schedule an interview.

I provided my slots, got it set up, and even successfully cleared their cognitive assessment.

But here is where it gets confusing: the scheduled interview never actually took place. After a period of silence, I received a standard automated email stating that the team decided not to move my application to the next stage.

I’m genuinely curious about the state of recruitment right now. Is this "scheduling ghosting" becoming the new normal in tech hiring, or was this likely just an automated system glitch?

Would love to hear if anyone in my network has encountered a similar scenario!

Not sure where I'm going wrong

I'm genuinely going to go insane. Interviewers telling you "You're exactly what we're looking for." Means exactly nothing!

I apply to jobs I have skills in. Like working as a barista and retail. Both I have done for multiple years.

I have been told I'm "perfect for the job" multiple times now during multiple interviews. Just to be either ghosted or I receive an email saying "we have decided not to move forward."

I genuinely just don't understand where I'm going wrong. Is it because I ask questions? I have been told multiple times now that I've been the only person to actually ask questions when they ask "do you have any questions?" But I'm usually asking basic things such as "What do you like about working here?" and "What do you look for in an employee?" ect... I also usually ask for feedback, "Is there anything I can clarify on that makes you hesitant?" A few times I've gotten "No you did great!"

Perhaps it's because I have a gap? I have been unemployed for around 9 months now. One employer said "We were hesitant because of your work gap, but after meeting you we understand," and then they went to talk about their own work gap.

One interview they said they would call me that week. I was ghosted for around 2 weeks. I decided to call them. The assistant manager said the manager would call me the next day. Never heard from them again.

I'm genuinely at a loss.

This Job is Sucking the Life Out of me

I am 26 currently living in New York City working as a teachers assistant. My goal is to become a touring artist but currently my job only gives me time to make music at night. I’m really struggling at this job because I have to wake up early to get there before my head teacher and to make early morning meetings which leaves me to only sleep around 4 to 5 hours a night. I share nothing in common with my coworkers. I feel constantly scrutinized this year because I called out sick one day at the end of last year because my roommate was constantly harassing and verbally berating me.

I’m coming here looking for a better job with better pay (currently being payed 45K for 9 months), Im looking for something that primarily suits my sleep schedule better with flexible hours and possibly hybrid or remote. I have a bachelors in Liberal arts with a focus in Music and Digital Media. Not sure I want to continue a career in education any job suggestions would be helpful. Thank you.

Finding a gig with no prior experience seems impossible at this point ☹️

Hi everyone! seeking help and advices.

i have looked for now about 2 years like everyday and i get overwhelmed by how many platforms exist and how many have good and bad reviews at the same time.

i keep losing hope then i jump back to searching.

what platforms really have work that doesn't require prior experience. (i'm a medical student i kind of invest all my time in studying).

i thought that finding data annotation or UHRS gigs was easy until i found that even data annotations are hard. (if you can show me lectures, courses with certificate on this field that might help me).

i know that finding the first couple of project is the hardest part in this journey and i don't want to give up despite living in a country where i have very few chances compared to other ambitious people who are working (wish them the best in their careers).

sorry if this was long to read. again appreciate any small help i can get

Can’t land a job

Hello everybody,

I need a lot of help. I’ve been unemployed for 5 months. I’ve applied to over 300 jobs and still haven’t landed one. I’ve gotten a few second and final interviews. I’ve talked with a career coach. I’ve used Teal HQ to build my resume, I’m just getting very frustrated and I don’t even know if it’s me, my resume, the type of jobs I’m looking for, or if it’s my experience. My target roles are Director of Finance, finance manager, and accounting manager. I have 8+ years of experience, CPA and CSPO. I’ve worked across banking, governments, nonprofits, and CPA firms. I just have no idea what is going on plus on top of that I have two kids and a wife. Any advice would help. I’m looking for jobs in DE, PA, NJ, MD, remote. Any tips or tricks or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much.

49, Still Willing to Work I Just Need Someone to Give Me a Chance 🥺

49 years old, female, single, and desperately looking for a job.

I honestly don’t know where else to turn, so I’m taking a chance by posting this.

I have BPO experience, and I have been applying repeatedly to different BPO companies. I have reached the final interview several times, but after that, I never hear back. No updates, no results, nothing. I keep wondering if I’m doing something wrong during the interviews, or if my age is already working against me.

I have applied to so many jobs already, but most of the time, there is no response or I’m simply not qualified because of my age.

I’ve tried looking beyond BPO as well. I am willing to work as a cashier, laundry staff or assistant, cleaner, service crew, factory worker, office assistant, encoder, back-office staff, or any other decent job where I can earn enough to support my everyday needs.

I also have experience working in a factory/electronics environment, but many companies have an age limit of 45. Sometimes, once they hear my age, I already know I won’t be given a chance even before they see what I can actually do.

But I want to say this honestly:

I am still strong. I am physically fit. I am mentally capable. I am willing to work hard. And I am willing to learn.

I lost my job last year, and I have been trying to find work ever since. I have not stopped applying. I have not stopped trying. But after so many applications and so many interviews that ended without any response, I have to admit that I am becoming desperate.

I am struggling financially right now. There are times when I honestly don’t know where I will get the money for my daily needs and bills.

I also have dogs who depend on me. They are not just pets to me. They are the ones who stay beside me, love me unconditionally, and keep me company when life gets difficult. They are my companions, and I have to make sure they are fed and taken care of.

That is one of the biggest reasons why I cannot simply give up.

I need to work. I want to earn my own money. I want to be able to provide for myself and for the animals who depend on me.

So I am reaching out to anyone who might be able to help.

If there are business owners, employers, small businesses, companies, or anyone hiring within Cavite preferably Silang, Dasmariñas, Tagaytay, or nearby areas ...I am willing to work.

I am not looking for a special position.

I am not asking for special treatment.

I am simply asking for a chance.

Give me a task, and I will do my best to learn it.

Give me a responsibility, and I will take it seriously.

Give me an opportunity, and I will work hard to prove that my age does not define my ability to be a good employee.

I believe I can still contribute. I believe I can still be useful. And most importantly, I still want to work.

I know I may not be the youngest applicant anymore, but I can offer something that comes from years of experience: reliability, discipline, honesty, commitment, and a genuine willingness to work.

If you know of any job opportunity that I may qualify for, please feel free to comment or send me a message. If you cannot offer a job, even sharing this post would already mean a lot to me.

I am posting this because I am at a point in my life where I really need someone to open a door for me.

I am tired, I am struggling, and yes, I am desperate, but I am not giving up.

I just need someone to give me that one opportunity.

Please let me prove what I can do.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to read this. 🙏

4th year BIT-FSM student graduating soon, but I don't think I want to work in the food industry. What can I do after graduation?

Hi! I'm currently a 4th-year Bachelor of Industrial Technology major in Food and Service Management (BIT-FSM) student here in the Philippines, and I'm graduating next year.

I'm posting this because I'm honestly a bit lost about what I should do after graduation, and I'd really appreciate some advice. Please don't judge me. 😭

When I chose my degree/program, I didn't really feel like it was something I genuinely wanted. At the time, I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do with my life, and things just didn't go exactly as planned.

I'm grateful that I'm able to finish this degree. But at the same time, I don't really see myself working in the food industry after graduation. The problem is, I also don't really know yet what kind of career or industry I should pursue instead.

So I'm hoping to hear from people who have experience with career changes, career shifting, or have a similar degree/background:

What career paths or industries could someone with a BIT-FSM degree realistically pursue after graduation?

I'm open to suggestions, even if they're fields I haven't considered before. I'd actually prefer hearing what you think I could explore.

I also appreciate advice on what I could start doing during my remaining time in college to make myself more employable if I decide to pursue something outside of food/service.

I'm just trying to figure things out before I officially graduate. 😫

Thank you in advance, and please be kind. 🙏

Are career fairs worth it?

I’m currently completing my final year of my master’s degree, and I’m starting my job search early because I’ve heard the market is bad. My university holds 5 career fairs in the fall that I have been prepping to attend, but I realized yesterday that 2 of the career fairs take place during a week when I’m supposed to be out of town traveling with family. My only options are to either skip the family vacation and attend the career fairs, or to skip the career fairs and travel with my family.

How worth it are career fairs for actually getting jobs? My degree is in environmental science with a focus on water quality. I’m not opposed to skipping the family vacation if the career fairs are worth it, but if I do skip I’ll probably have to put up with a lot of guilt tripping/complaining from my family, and I don’t want to deal with that unless it’s necessary.

Recent Grad Job Struggles

Hi guys

I just graduated in May with my bachelor's degree, but since then I have been seriously struggling to get a job. I graduated with a decent GPA from a very good university, was involved in club leadership, research, and also worked part time. I thought that I would have a good chance at landing something after graduation but now the whole summer has gone by and I have nothing. I applied to over 100 jobs and had interviews with 2 companies, got to the final round and they either chose someone with more experience or completely ghosted me. My degree is in government and obviously it's not the best field to be in right now, but I've tried to apply for anything I seem qualified for and just never hear back. How can I make myself stand out or feel motivated? Even part-time jobs in my hometown aren't calling me back and I'm honestly getting depressed.
