"You don't need to own your games", "you don't need to own your hardware", "it's simpler and cheaper to use our cloud compute/games/digital licenses/whatever".

Some time later... "Oh, it's actually super expensive and makes no sense but we've already changed the industry and waited for a time when hardware prices are sky high also because of nonsense shannanigans. So price is up and will continue yo rise. You're welcome!"

Capitalism today feels like the resurgence of the robber barons. We need some governments oversight pronto, break up monopolies/duopolies/cartels, ensure fair and open market, and police big corps' predatory practices.

At the end of the day, I blame the dumbass consumers for this issue in gaming. If people didn't pay for digital nothing and continue to pay for bullshit services like this, then we wouldn't have this problem.  If the ice cream store sells frozen diarrhea, stop buying it. If people continue buying it and complaining that it tastes like shit, that's on them.  I am talking about gaming specifically because gaming is purely a luxury good, it isn't some essential life sustaining service that people need.
