For now

Sony likes to copy Xbox’s business models: paid online play, gamepass equivalent etc

Except the good stuff like the rewards program. They ditched PS stars a year ago and still nothing. Xbox has their rewards still

For now, they gimp it further and further every chance they get

Eventually they will hemmorage enough people that everyone will play on steam and they will just sue steam for a share of the profits their incompetency created.

It’s being gutted slowly and points are more and more to redeem

First, Sony will use Microsoft’s misstep to market their unlimited plan… then a few months later they will do it themselves.

Much like Apple and Samsung.

But this one will be a win for sony after the disk stuff. They are only offering it to premium, I believe.

Xbox should do the same.

The disk stuff is going to be so short lived for Xbox. They absolutely will do away with disks and this feature to turn your disks to digital is literally going to be so that you can play your old games on the new console. They're just scared to announce it yet because of the backlash Sony is getting for it. Oh, and stand by for Sony to also announce the ability to digitize your dicksc library because no one would be happy if they couldn't play their PS5 games on the PS6. This is just how enshitification works.

Sony started the streaming service. Game Pass copied it.

Sony doesn't even have cloud gaming do they? They have console streaming but that's not cloud gaming

Yes, they do with the premium service.

They do. Remote Play has been around for decades now, but their Cloud Streaming started on PS4 with PlayStation Now. They have a newer service which is part of PS Plus.

I dunno, limiting cloud streaming time seems antithetical to what Sony is currently trying to do with their "mobile console" idea in the Portal

Plus it's limited to a tier, not everyone

The product has to make money eventually, though. Unlimited usage of a power-hungry program at a monthly rate is just not sustainable, its a question of when and how much Sony eventually limits it, not if.

Depends on their set up though.

Sony saying about disks means they were gearing up for cloud gaming so they might forseen this

Got a Portal recently and was surprised to find out I can't stream on it while playing on the PS5 using the same account and can only stream with main account on Portal.

Who’s playing the PS5 in this scenario? Are you sharing your account with someone?

If the second person creates a local account on the PS5, they should be able to use that at the same time.

I’ve been streaming Big Walk on my portal with my son hosting the game on the PS5 under his local account, and it’s been working great. I got the game under my account and PS Plus subscription, and we can both play it simultaneously.

Maybe there are other barriers in your situation, but I wonder if you’d be able to make it work somehow.

Both are being used at home, sometimes at same time. Opening a 2nd account is what I was trying to do but game saves can't be copied over to other accounts, or moved between them. I guess the account will have to start from scratch. Will try again other stuff and see what works best

They are both just copying nvidia at this point

cuz sony knows no one will switch once xbox does it

What a crock of shite.😂 There is so much wrong with your statement... just revisionist history or straight up lies, lol.

Xbox copied Sony with '"Games with Gold" AFTER Playstation already had PS Plus now on the PS3. Sony then expanded the benefits of the service on the PS4 by allowing you to stream games from the cloud after they bought Gaikai. Xbox copied it by creating Gamepass to give players access to brand new games to stream instead of previous gen games like Sony. Microsoft was trying to position itself as a more premium service by offering current gen games. Playstation rebranded PS now into Ps Plus by breaking it into tiers and named them Essential, Extra and Premium that gave you access to a library of PS4 games. Then Microsoft copied AGAIN by creating tiers like Essential, Premium and Ultimate. They realized Playstation didnt paywall Free2play games and copies that too.

This idea that Sony copied Microsoft business models for Xbox is delusional. No doubt they copied paying for online gaming though. That was a no brainer. Xbox gamers allowed Microsoft to get away with it, so Sony and Nintendo followed.

Microsoft did it too early. Sony was probably going to wait until they got rid of the discs before pulling this.

Lol yeah, for now...
