That's kind of why I don't buy that theory about big tech trying to sell us cloud gaming, hardware cost increase for everyone, including cloud gaming providers, it's still going to be cheaper to buy those overpriced memory and graphic card, than paying too much for a terrible subscription service

Yep people are too swept up in their "you will own nothing and be happy" psychosis. At a certain scale, the hardware maintenance costs outweight any profits you can squeeze out of the playerbase, selling hardware with a thin profit margin and selling/getting custs on software is literally outsourcing the infrastructure costs to the user and raking in no-maintenance revenue.
