Remember when video games used to be a fun hobby to get away from the real life for a few hours? And you never heard from a CEO, let alone knew what one was? Now video games are corporatized with CEO's raking in millions of dollars, having shareholder meetings, talking about quarterly profits, while never picking up and playing a video game in their fucking life. In fact, the people that actually married their love of games with their profession are the ones who get fired, killing the medium while keeping profits for these blood suckers sitting in board rooms as high as possible... with no regard for the art of video games itself because all they care about is money!

best comment i this entire thing. Having gaming go into SAAS and why it's bad right there. It's because for a lot of people going to a game is an escape from all of this. Many people dont want copoilot or micro transactions showing up in their game, or to check the clock to see if they still have credits with Microsoft. The people that make these decisions are completely out of touch. I mean the CEO inst' really even a gamer she wont know.

I respectfully disagree. But that could depend on how long you've been following the gaming space. I understand businesses are gonna business. Each company has someone in charge of making money. But it used to be that video games were viewed in the same light as toys. That's not the case anymore. Back then they saw their audiences as families, kids, and they were selling to parents on why they should buy their kid this game or that game... not as walking ATM's to squeeze out every dollar they can to make the money line go up. The industry has changed over the years. It's become disgustingly more profit-driven than ever before, and it's not going to stop until it eventually all crashes down because chasing record profits year over year just isn't sustainable. The growth of the industry already peaked. But how these companies scheme up ways of draining players of their money has not.

Do toys not also treat the consumer like atms to be squeezed dry that also seems like the status quo. Idk I only started in the 90s but it's always been a rush to get as much money as possible hell games are cheaper than ever tbh I was buying games for $60 in the early 2000s when rent was $600 now I'm buying games for $70 when rent is $1600 games are still just incredibly cheap idk Ive really never felt that games are getting more expensive they still are and always have been a decently cheap hobby. I can't really think of anything else in my life that has maintained similar price points for as long games have been $60 on average for a quarter of a century.
