Arte Moreno is not the guy to bring the NHL back to Arizona
The previous post talked about Arte Moreno after he sold the Los Angeles Angels to Stan Kroenke (who also owns the Avalanche, Rams, and Nuggets). I will say, Arte Moreno cannot be and will not be the guy who brings the NHL back. He most likely has no interest. And looking at his record with the Angels, he took a team that won the World Series (he bought the team in 2003, the year after the Angels won the World Series) to the longest active playoff drought in the MLB. Why should we trust him to own another team? I foolishly trusted Meruelo (and I’m very sorry for that). And I will not be fooled again.

Coyotes Rumor Round Up: Craig on CHGO and Steve Peters tweet
Craig Morgan did a hit on the CHGO podcast this afternoon and he shined some light on a potential Arizona expansion team:
Ownership - There is a group who he believes have secured the funding and have narrowed it down to two arena sites. League vetting and timelines can still derail but feels like it is much further along than a year ago.
Arena location - He believes that the 101/202 area makes most sense. It’s where the examinations by the previous owners have done show where the fan base, the corporate fan base, and where the wealth and population are.
Timing - Based on his conversations, he expects the Texas franchise to start in 2029, and he believes either the other expansion team to start a year after that.
Steve Peters Tweet: In response to a tweet about the 30 year anniversary of the Kachina jersey unveiling, he said:
🤷🏻♂️ How long until we see the new ones?
A. By 2030
B. Before 2040
C. Never
If you are wondering, i’ve got “A” ✅

Would you support a FPHL team in the valley
So the FPHL has expanded with 3 teams in California. Rumor is they would like 6 or 8.
The FPHL is the lowest level pro hockey. I went to a game last year in my hometown of Columbus, IN and enjoyed it.
Would you support one if it came here?

I was told by (purportedly) very smart people that there is no hockey culture in Arizona.
