This is a smaller proposed extension to KC’s increasing popular and lauded streetcar, which has already had 2 prior extensions linking downtown with UMKC to the South, and and the Berkeley Riverfront District/CPKC Stadium to the north.

18th & Vine is a historic neighborhood in KC that’s known as a breeding ground for a lot of Jazz music and a hub of black business and culture. Several blocks and buildings make up a district that’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The neighborhood is also home to several theatres, music clubs , the American Jazz Museum, and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum,- so it would be cool to see more attractions that would be showcased along the extension that could potentially introduce/bring more people to the area.

The route itself would branch off from the main streetcar route spine along Main Street at 18th street, following 18th street for about a mile on a double track alignment with stops at Holmes St, Troost Ave, and Paseo (also an option to do a single track loop between Troost & Paseo) - with potential for expansion further east along 18th street in future studies. Final report expected later this year. Construction possibly 5yrs away.

Side note: as far as I can tell, KC has been doing a good job with the streetcar so far IMO, especially with the thought and design put into the newer expansions.

They’re also currently studying an expansion to North Kansas City, as well as a new East-West route that would go from KU Medical Center just across the border in Kansas City, KS, to the VA Medical Center along Linwood Blvd.

I'd like to share Mini MTR, an open-source 3D visualization of Hong Kong's MTR network, inspired by Mini Tokyo 3D.

It currently includes:

• 10 MTR lines and more than 4,000 scheduled trips
• Animated trains rendered with Three.js
• Live arrival data from the MTR Next Train API
• Real-time and simulation modes
• Timeline scrubbing, pause, and playback speed controls
• Weather and service status
• English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese interfaces

Since the public MTR API doesn't provide the exact GPS location of each train, train positions are estimated using routes, timetables, and live arrival data. It's a real-time, data-driven simulation rather than an official train-tracking system.

The idea originally came from Mini Tokyo 3D. I wanted to build a Hong Kong version years ago, but my technical skills and the available data were limited at the time, so the project never really got off the ground.

I recently picked up the idea again and built it with the help of GLM 5.3 Flash. The result turned out much better than I expected, so I decided to open-source it.

So I'm from Bogota Colombia and we are proudly under construction of our first metro line (finally Jesus) and 15 of the 16 station names are chosen but... Empresa metro de Bogotá did some good and some questionable name choices but the worst in my opinion it's station number 8

Station 8 is a station located in the middle of the roundabout of Primera de Mayo and Carrera 50 avenues so everything is good at this point, a station very unique and it's my favorite and a lot of people are excited specially on this one cuz is like expected to be so pretty BUT the name it's just a terrible idea.

The station is called Puente Aranda and despite it's an adequate name due its located in Puente Aranda district the thing is Puente Aranda Is a big district, the name doesn't mean nothin and the worst is that a station already called Puente Aranda exist of course it's a Transmilenio station. The problem is, there gonna be two stations with the same name in different transit systems that are very far from each other, this would generate a lot of confusion especially because bus routes that have in their tables Puente Aranda runs near the Transmilenio station not the metro one maybe the only route who connects the two barely it's 579 but no more. Honestly there will be a problem unless they fix it if they don't well prepare for some confusion if you visit the city (this also will happen with station number 10 too)

How would you solve this problem?

Is a 30-minute FlixBus → Amtrak connection in Chicago realistic? The bus is scheduled to arrive downtown near Union Station at 6:35 while the train leaves at 7:05 from the same location. Has anyone done this, and how often is the FlixBus 15–30+ minutes late?

Something came up while I was reading through some old Boston metro history recently, specifically looking at how certain inner suburb neighborhoods got their shape, and I kept noticing how much the streetcar and early rail lines seemed to influence not just where housing went but what kind of community life took root. Squares that had reliable service became gathering points. Places that got bypassed stayed quieter and more isolated for decades, and that quietness seemed to stick even after cars became common.

I realize this probably sounds obvious to people who study urban development, but I was genuinely struck by how durable those patterns are. You can still feel it walking around some of these neighborhoods today.

Boston is a pretty particular case given how old the system is, so I don't want to generalize too much. But the connection between where the lines ran and where civic and commercial life concentrated seems hard to dismiss once you start looking for it.

In California, a lot of our bus operators run renewable diesel buses. Some operators are trying to transition to 100% zero emission fleets by 2040. This would be a mix of hydrogen fuel cell, battery electric, and trolly bus. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and my local transit agency already runs 5-15% of their fleet on hydrogen. With the current price of diesel hitting an all time high of $7.73 per gallon, it made me wonder how close we are to hydrogen fuel cell being cost competitive. At what $/kg of H2 fuel will hydrogen busses be competitive with modern North American diesel busses (ignoring up front costs, maintenance, and depreciation)?
