New advertising rule

Recently we have had lots of advertising spam in the subreddit so we have implemented a new rule:

Rule 3:

Advertising a brand new game you made is fine as long as it is secure, safe, and free. What is not ok is linking your Patreon or other things that will make you revenue including paid games.

This subreddit is meant for educational purposes and is not an advertising dump. You should post maps only to get educational feedback and to improve your creation.

Posts/comments are removed at moderator discretion but feel free to reach out to us if you feel like your post/comment was incorrectly removed.

If you need any clarification feel free to reply to this post or message the mod team

Map Hachure Map with a dark secret…

Maybe this is more for fantasy maps but wanted to share my first map made with hachures! Feedback appreciated, as I’m still unsure if I want to go with hachures for the full map, as opposed to contour lines.

I did not use any AI tool to make this map, I really liked the result. I mean it's not realistic at all but I just wanted to make a kinda photo realistic style. What do you think?

Map Finished topographic map that I started as a test around 4 years ago ( + invidivual layers link in comments )

Soo it's been a while since I finished it and I plan on eventually using it for a personal project of mine, though I've decided to leave the links to all the 3 layers ( mainland, topography and rivers ) for anyone else to use or study or do whatever they want with it. The size is 7500x6000, and in total with both on and off work, I would say over all these years it took around 150-200 hours ( this is why you don't procrastinate long term ).

Plus feel free to edit whatever features as you see fit or maybe even incorporate some parts of it into your own projects.

Work In Progress Work in Progress Topographic Map

Post image

I'm slowly doing my topographic style map. This is nearly quarter of all mountains done with 0-200 elevation missing on some parts because I dont like the way I did them and will try to improve them on the newer parts I've made. I'm not sure how I've done upper left mountains plateau and series of valleys in the bottom part of that same continent, the place where lands turn to the right.

Do mountains look good or do they need to be higher. Most topographic maps I've seen here has wider and higher mountains. This may be a problem with elevation color pallette I've used so I'm curious about it. And ocean elevation isnt detailed by choice, there isnt any ships on this world so detailed ocean elevation isnt possible for them and they just scale how deep it is by 1 to 6.

I am open to all criticism to help me further improve the map. This is the 3rd or 4th time I've remade this map so starting it all over again doesnt even bother me anymoer lmao.

I've been looking for a tool to create a detailed topography of my world for quite some time. I think I've finally found it!

merakmapmaker.com is a site that lets you upload a heightmap or start from scratch and then add detailed topography to your map. And that's just one of its features.

You can see the map I created in the attachment.

It even has some real world data if you're interested in that.

Map Feedback needed

Hi
I made this map a while ago. It seems fine, but in my opinion, something is off about it. Do you have any ideas on how to improve it? Different colors or a different typeface? Is there too little or too much of something? I’d appreciate any suggestions.

Started making a map for the world my fantasy-horror stories are set in; I've quickly spiraled into complete chaos... Maybe if I keep adding trees... no, that can't be it.... Unless?

Here are different worlds (three in total), and different areas of these worlds. I've been working on these settings for over 6 years, and even so, I feel like I could still mark a lot more on the maps. Most of all, I ran games set in the world from the latest image, the continents known as 'Parhelion' and 'Halo'.

Hello, i want to make a map of some neighborhoods of Tokyo, for a trip that i will do. Simply saying, i want to have the borders of said neighborhood, and the subway that i will use to go there. What is the best way to do that ?

Asked AI, let's totally forget what they have proposed. Also, do you have any kind of hint, tips or anything else to help ?

Map Completed the map for my sci-fi/ fantasy novel!

I posted the WIP the other day, and here is the completed version! I’m fairly happy with it, though I think I could keep on adding details forever. Any feedback or thoughts are appreciated!

The novel blurb: far into the distant future, across forgotten millennia, humanity has spread across the galaxy, settling on far away worlds. On this world, an apocalyptic event occurred, sending mankind back to a new dark age. 6,000 years later, a new civilization has been born, risen from the ash and rust of the old world.

The first image would be what appears in the novel, the second is the highlighted regions.

I tried to make them start in multiple places and conjoin into one big river. I also added a cold desert under the mountains by Kecati (top left).
