C/s: struggles to turn over and won't start, probably needs a starter.

Got overheated, seized while driving, after cooling down the starter managed to get the engine to turn over just not very quickly, so obviously the problem is the starter motor/s

Customer states: “It has a 190° thermostat, so anything over 190° means it’s overheating.”

Customer tells me the car is overheating again because he checked around the cooling system with an IR gun and saw the surface of the coolant hose was 206°F.

His argument: “The thermostat is 190°, so it shouldn't ever get hotter than 190°.”

How are you explaining this one to the customer? 😂

New head gasket for a 1.1 Picanto enginge, he had a big snap.

After all first 10 bolts was tourged at 90Nm, then the first bolt getting to 147Nm made large sound.

Socket fell off, and he would actually unscrew it with his fingers.

New bolt and all. Quite lucky 😅

Faulty coolant temp sensor causing fans to run full speed randomly.

Dealership recommended a thermostat for this D3 S8 Plus. Temp sensor 1 seemed to be a bit erratic warming up from cold, but the max/min MVB for coolant temps showed -233F and +476F.

This was taken just above warm up with engine off and a maintainer on the 12V system. All other temps were rock solid at 90-92F.

Please clock into your warranty jobs you fucks.

2.1k Upvotes

Tech of 18 years turned secretary.

Warranty times are constantly slashed. BECAUSE you need to fulfil 50-90% of the warranty time. Every single one of you fuckers do the job and clock into it after its done and clock out when you reach the criteria time.

Then manufacturer looks at labor times and says "well 90% of our technicians can do it 20% faster"

I have no leg to stand on. Clock into your jobs when you go home, please. I want to pay you a lot while im sitting in air conditioning. Please dont make that hard.

I like my neighbor enough to help with his swollen nuts

Post image

Got home and my neighbor was fighting his wheel trying to change to his spare.

4 lugnuts swollen with the chrome caps splitting, 1lugnut missing, one just starting to swell.

Hammered on a 22mm and got on them with my breaker bar. Disregard the framing hammer, didn't wanna run clear to my basement to get my good deadblow. Couldn't get his scissor jack under the car due to the curve of the street so also had to help with my low profile trolley jack.

Took me about 20 minutes and he's off to the tire shop at low speed with his hazards on. One of the reasons I like him so well--he LISTENED when I said he cant drive normally on a donut and only 5/6 nuts.

22 Acadia. I know this shit happens but 4 years is *fast* here in Missouri.

1993 Ford Explorer. This customer has brought it to me for well over a decade but somehow I JUST now saw it: the mythical blinker fluid reservoir.

Don't ever let anyone tell you it's just a parts store prank, and that dreams can't come true

C/S clutch pedal feels funny (not ha ha). Turns out the actuating shaft for the release bearing had been bent so it was rubbing the bell housing hard enough to wear an oval hole into it. Looks like it's been that way for quite awhile!
