Hackintoshing lives for another year! macOS Tahoe will be the FINAL release for Intel Macs, as stated during the Platforms State of the Union presentation. It's been a good ride.
Officially supported Intel models:
All graphics that worked in Sequoia should work in Tahoe.
Wait for an official announcement. If you post about OCLP before that I am going to send Tim Apple to remove every Mac from your house.
No.
No.
No.
Yes, with OpenCore 1.0.5.
Make sure to upgrade all of your kexts to their latest versions.
AppleALC is broken because AppleHDA was removed from Tahoe. Use HDMI/DP audio for the time being.
WhateverGreen is bugged on AMD cards, so you can't use boot arguments like agdpmod=pikera. You are affected by this if you get a kernel panic with AMDSupport mentioned.
IntelBTPatcher causes kernel panics
IntelMausi may not work correctly with certain Intel ethernet chipsets

apolgy for bad english
where were u wen intel die
i was at house eating apple when phone ring
'intel is kil'
'no'
As I'm sure we've all heard by now, macOS 27 will not be compatible with Intel Macs. This means that for all intents and purposes, (Intel) Hackintosh is dead.
Apple explained last year during WWDC 2026's after-events that macOS 26 Tahoe would be the last version for Intel Macs. also go read the news more often smh
All x86 CPUs are no longer supported for macOS.
Yes No
macOS 15 Sequoia and macOS 26 Tahoe will still be supported for security updates. One more year for Sequoia, two three for Tahoe.
It is up to the developers of the software to keep releasing Intel versions.
No.
Although ARM is an instruction set architecture shared by many processors, Apple hardware and software includes many unique instructions that are not used in other ARM processors and currently cannot be emulated.
There are images released by Apple for use in VMs which technically do not use these instructions, but even if a way is figured to boot it on non-Apple devices, there will be no drivers available for the GPU, Audio, etc.
Too much has already been removed from the first beta for it to be compatible with Intel.
Let's get you back to bed grandma
No.
Yes, it will remain open. Regardless of whether Intel is supported, people will still try to hackintosh either for a specific use case or just for curiosity's sake.

So I love my latitude 7490 Hackintosh, I can triple boot Ventura, Somona, and Sequoia, but the sound was never loud enough, and I would need to install eqMac to boost the max volume on all of my installs. Well I spent the day today creating a modified AppleALC driver with the help of AI, and it boosts the max volume by about 5db. Even audio content that was loud to begin with, does not clip or distort when using this kext, and it has been tested on two different machines. Requires the following boot-args to function: alcid=56 alcverbs=1 -alcdhost
https://github.com/maddog860/5db-Volume-Boost-Latitude-7490/releases/tag/Volume-Boost
This includes a writeup that explains what was figured out today, and how this approach can increase the max volume of other hackintoshes. Enjoy everyone, and feel free to post feedback. This post is not asking for help, just submitting my positive results with artificial assistance, and therefore should not break any rules.
The specific undocumented/poorly documented 7490 audio details established were:
0x10ec0256.0x14.0x90170110.0x02.0x00025757, corresponding roughly to a range from about −65 dB up to 0 dB.0x57 on both channels, which is the top of that hardware range.0x02), so there wasn't an obvious hidden “turn the speaker amp fully on” switch left unused.0x20 exposing 91 coefficients (0x5b). One of those, coefficient 0x37, is associated in Linux codec work with Class-D amplifier control.r/hackintosh • u/EitherMind7793 • 6h ago
I was wondering if my laptop could run macOS with light tasks or will it just not work since I don’t think my hardware is supported
-intel core i7-13620H
-R t x 4050
- 32GB of ram
I don’t think my gpu is supported but will it still run light tasks or will it not even run at all?

In this day and age the GPUs are expensive.
We have the source code for Intel iGPUs inside Linux source code.
How about porting that code to macOS?
What do you think?

I’ve seen a lot of metal projects and they all seem to require a virtual machine to run to do runtime translation which made me think
Why can’t we do this without a virtual machine why do we need runtime vgpu translation ?
Then I started and I saw why they went the VM route. Metal is so weird in some places compared to Vulkan or D3D but after countless HOURS (and still ongoing!)
I present to you guys Iron which is, to my knowledge the most complete Metal1 and MSL compiler implantation for any given Metal version (I know darling exists but they don’t say hey we implement 100% of this Metal standard)
Iron is a source compatible Metal implementation, not binary compatible (drop in replacement if you use metalcpp they have the same exact api) it currently has the Vulkan backend wired in with D3D12 coming only after I finish Metal2 but the neutral IR allows anyone to layer metal over any backend they want it was made with a neutral implementation in mind to allow this it isn’t hard locked to Vulkan.
Who would benefit from this? Anyone working with metalcpp and wanting their code to work as is on other platforms. Someone can easily make a objc wrapper over this but this is outside my goal
Current numbers:
Metal 1: 1027 / 1086
MSL 1.0: 9/526 (MSL1.1 and MSL1.2 come after 1.0 is done they are part of the Metal1 gate)
Sources:
Metal documentation from Apple
Metal cpp from Apple (the fact they open sourced this means a project like this was bound to happen sooner or later)
Commandline tools only for total symbols
IRON DOES NOT TAKE OR USE ANY PRIVATE APPLE API ALL METAL BEHAVIORS AND QUIRKS ARE IMPLEMENTED BY USING A BLACK BOX APPROACH OF RUNNING METAL AND VULKAN THEIR COMPARING THEIR BYTE OUTPUTS!!!!

I am currently stuck on a Memory Panic that is driving me up a wall right now. (Trying to boot up to Sequoia Installer.)
If anyone asked. Yes, I did the Guide and there's NO OCAT, OpCore Simplify, Jerkmate, or whatever kind of hackintool in this EFI.
Here's the Specs.
CPU: Ryzen 5 2600x Six Core Processor
GPU: Radeon RX 580 Series 8GB Model
RAM: 2x16gb
SSD: T-Force 1TB SSD
Motherboard: B450M DS3H Wifi (Rev 1.5)
If anyone is asking me about the EFI. Then I can send it in the replies.

I just put together a hackintosh system with a 270K plus CPU. In Cinebench R23, I get about only 30k in multi-core, whereas Windows gets around 40k. Even my old 14700k hackintosh got slightly higher scores (~33k), which has me confused. I'm using the iMacPro1,1 SMBIOS, SSDT-PLUG-ALT.aml from SSDTTime, and cputopologyrebuild.kext with -ctrsmt. Is there any way to improve performance or is this the best I'm going to get?

I’ve been running this Z490 Vision D Hackintosh as my main music production rig on Monterey 12.6.8 for years, and it has been exceptionally stable. Because I rely on it professionally and have a lot of studio hardware attached, I was pretty nervous about touching it just to get onto a current macOS/Logic setup.
Rather than risk the Monterey system, I installed Sequoia 15.7.7 on a completely separate SSD and built/tested a new OpenCore setup there. The original Monterey startup drive/EFI was left alone the entire time.
After a fair amount of troubleshooting, I now have essentially everything working on Sequoia, including the things I was most concerned about for a music-production Hackintosh.
1. Thunderbolt / Universal Audio
This was the biggest concern.
My old Monterey SSDT-TB3HP.aml had worked for years, but using it under Sequoia caused major problems: boot hangs with the Arrow connected, USB/HID problems, and even a WindowServer crash when hot-plugging the Arrow.
The solution was replacing the old Thunderbolt SSDT setup with the SSDT-TB3HP.aml + SSDT-DTGP.aml from the v38 SchmockLord Z490 Vision D build.
With that pair, Thunderbolt became stable.
Tested successfully:
I did not flash/reflash the Thunderbolt firmware during this migration.
2. Universal Audio driver installation
UAD 11.9 was another headache.
The installer repeatedly timed out after exactly 600 seconds during its post-install process. The signed UAD2System.kexthad actually been installed into Universal Audio’s support directory, but it wasn’t loading.
We found that the kext itself had a valid Universal Audio Developer ID signature, but its ownership was wrong.
I copied the signed kext to:
/Library/Extensions/UAD2System.kext
then corrected ownership/permissions to root:wheel.
Attempting to load it with kmutil then finally triggered macOS’s Privacy & Security → Allow Universal Audioprompt.
After approving it and rebooting:
com.uaudio.driver.UAD2System (11.9.0)
loaded successfully.
After that, UAD Meter saw:
And the Arrow actually displayed “Connecting to Arrow” for the first time.
UA officially supports UAD software, Thunderbolt Apollo hardware and UAD-2 PCIe under Sequoia, so once the driver installation/approval problem was resolved, the UA side behaved normally.
3. Broadcom/Fenvi Wi-Fi
The Fenvi T919 is no longer plug-and-play under newer macOS versions.
Working setup for me:
IOSkywalkFamily.kextIO80211FamilyLegacy.kextAfter patching, Wi-Fi is working normally.
I also tested:
All working.
4. USB
I made a proper USB map rather than relying on the old USBInjectAll + XhciPortLimit approach.
Keyboard, mouse, MIDI controllers and the ports I’ve tested are working.
One interesting scare: initially neither my AKAI LPK25 nor M-Audio Oxygen Pro 61 would trigger Logic even though both appeared in Audio MIDI Setup. After CoreMIDI/Logic had a chance to settle/re-enumerate, both started working normally. No EFI change was necessary.
5. Logic / Kontakt / UAD stress test
This was the test I cared about most.
I loaded 131 Kontakt instances simultaneously, each playing drum samples, and also loaded a bunch of UAD plug-ins.
It worked.
CPU distribution across the performance cores looked good, sample streaming appeared at least as good as Monterey, and I had no audio crackling or obvious performance problems.
I also tested:
The giant 131-Kontakt test project took ~35 seconds to close, which initially concerned me, but a normal five-track Logic session closed in about one second, so that appears to just be Kontakt/plugin-state teardown from an intentionally ridiculous test.
6. Sleep / wake
Tested a ~20-minute sleep with the Arrow connected.
After waking:
7. GPU / storage
RX 580 is recognized with Metal acceleration and normal video playback.
All of my SSD/HDD volumes mount and open normally. Sample streaming in the large Kontakt test seems at least as good as it was under Monterey.
So far I have working:
The Z490 Vision D has historically been a particularly good Hackintosh/music-production board, and there are older builds documenting working Universal Audio Apollo Thunderbolt on it as well. SchmockLord’s repository was particularly useful here; his current documentation also specifically uses SSDT-DTGP.aml + SSDT-TB3HP.aml for Thunderbolt support.
The big takeaway for anyone with one of these machines who has been afraid to leave Monterey: don’t destroy your working Monterey installation. Build Sequoia on another drive first and prove everything.
For my particular Z490 Vision D music-production build, the two biggest hurdles were modern Broadcom Wi-Fi support and getting Thunderbolt/UAD working correctly. Both were solvable, and so far Sequoia is performing extremely well.
I’m happy to post more detailed EFI/config information and the exact UAD driver workaround if anyone else is trying to move a similar Z490 Vision D / Universal Audio production machine from Monterey to Sequoia.
