Quick heads-up regarding my HackRF / PortaPack projects (GitHub suspension)
Hello folks!
Just a quick heads-up regarding some of my HackRF / PortaPack related projects. A lot of users have been asking me if certain projects were terminated or where to find them since they suddenly disappeared.
Unfortunately, u/GitHub's automated system flagged me as a spammer (for no reason), hiding all my repositories and activity. I opened a ticket on the exact same day (July 9), but I've only received a single AI-generated reply asking how I plan to use GitHub.
It's been almost two months with no human response. (If anyone knows someone at GitHub who can help escalate this, please DM me!)
Here is the current status of my sub related projects:
- PortaPack PRs: The RDS Rx and WMBus RX apps have been stuck unmerged for two months. Since I can't open or update Pull Requests, my development on other PortaPack apps is currently halted.
- PortaPack Splash Editor: You currently can't add new splash screens to the site, but the existing ones are still available at ppsplash.creativo.hu.
- PortaPack App Repo: No new standalone apps (games, etc.) are being added right now, but existing ones can still be downloaded at apps.hackrf.app.
- porta-433: No recent updates or builds yet, but I've migrated the source code to Codeberg: https://codeberg.org/htotoo/porta-433. (In case you missed it: This is a custom firmware that runs rtl_433 directly on the PortaPack. It uses the same flasher as Mayhem, so you can easily flash it and revert to Mayhem without a problem. Almost all other apps are removed to make room for rtl_433).
- ESP32-PP: Also migrated to Codeberg with no new builds yet: https://codeberg.org/htotoo/ESP32-Portapack. (This is a WIP firmware for PortaPack GPIO add-on boards, both DIY and MDK. It can be used to extend the PortaPack with additional sensors and features).
Some additional projects got backed up to CodeBerg, so you can access them there too.
Finally, a big thank you to all of you who noticed the missing repositories and reached out to ask about them. Your interest means a lot, and I appreciate your patience while I sort this out.
