I am going to fix it up, it is rough, but I was wondering what rims should I get on it? I want something late 90s early 00s.

Hey all had a mobile mechanic do a pad and rotor swap on the front due to uneven pad wear driver was down to 3mm, passenger was at 6mm figured just needed the slide pins lubed but looks like more needs done due to the uneven wear on the new painted rotors. Driver side looks like it is supposed to but passenger seems like only half the pad is grabbing, should I throw a caliper at it and see if that fixes it? Provided the mechanic with a caliper and said go ahead and replace it if it needs it, but he said everything retracted fine. Curious if anyone has delt with this type of situation in the past. Or any advice they would give.

The jobsite mess wasnt the big clumps of dried mud...it was the fine grit that kept returning right where my heel pivots. Running an F150 between work sites and daily erands, heavy boots grind abrasive dirt straight into the carpet right between the throtle pedal and the floor mat retention post.

Even with rubber mats in place, constant heel pressure shifts the fine sand around until it rubs the texture smooth and packs crushed silt into the factory carpet weave below the peg. A quick hoseoff cleans the top rubber but the grit underneath keeps working its way deeper every time boots press down.

what mess has caused the most noticeable wear to your driver footwell and how are you keeping fine grit from grinding through the heel area?

2005 ford F-150 STX 4x4, 2 valve 4.6L v8, At 160k miles … has gotten new tie rods, upper control arms, lower control arms with ball joint assembly, coolant flushed, new air filter, thermostat,battery, serpentine belt. Very consistent oil changes.In oregon and no rust. How’s she look and how much more life do you think she has in her?

I’m looking to buy a new F-150 and am seeing an awful lot of them with the Ecoboost V6 and not many with the 5.0 V8. Is there any information on the longevity of the V6s? My preference has always been a V8 in full size pickups. It’s a $4000 option though. Any thoughts or knowledge on which is better reliability/longevity wise?

Basically the shop I had it pressure tested at found a leak at the neck and quoted 348 for the part. He immediately offered to let me buy the part and they’ll install it but my head is spinning trying to find the correct one. He told me it’s an inch in a half core, also what I measured it at but everything online points to a 1 inch core using the y/m/m or vin and I can’t find either of the OEM parts anymore (new at least).
The radiator in it now looks like the heavy-duty one and has about a 1.5” core. From what I’ve found, the original Ford radiator may have been YL3H-GA / YL3Z-8005-GA.
So should I pay up for the 1 and half inch, upgrade to some kind of aluminum radiator or just buy the 1 inch that seems to be readily available around 100-120 bucks online.

Has anyone got these from Rough country, are they good?

I know this gets asked a lot but I’ve read opposing things and this is my first ford. I can’t tell if this is the tick or something else has gone wrong. It only makes the noise after being warmed up and either at idle or it still presents but quieter at low rpms. Also I’ve noticed it feels a little vibey at idle but I’m coming from a RAV4 and civic si. I’m looking hopefully for some piece of mind since I’ve already had to pull the valve covers to do VCt solenoids two weeks after buying. Carfax is great with solid service every 5k miles until I bought it.

Edit - I’ve just realized that the video is definitely making the noise sound louder than it is IRL.

First - I really don’t think it is rod knock considering the noise only happens while warm and is almost completely isolated to idle speeds.

Second - I watched some videos about bad rockers and I’m not too sure this is it, again based on how the noise occurs,but I will keep it in consideration. I’ll pop the valve covers again in the next couple weeks when I get some time and good weather and check for cam lobe wear/ bad rockers.

To start, I will switch to a heavier weight oil with Ceratec and see what that does. If there’s no change I will check my cams and rockers for wear/failure. If neither does anything then I will just let it ride. I watched FordTechMakuloco’s short on the Coyote Typewriter Tick and my engine sounds almost identical.

I’m looking at a 2023 F150 XLT with 40k miles (60k kilometers). 2.7L engine.

The challenge is that there is only one service record for the truck, at about 20k miles / 30k kilometers. The owner traded it in so there isn’t any opportunity to ask them.

In a worst case scenario where the guy only changed the oil once at 20k miles, how bad could the engine actually be? The truck looks really good otherwise, and the price is reasonable.

2021 XL 2.7 motor with 66k miles. Nothing special about it, I’m just glad I finally have one. I traded in a 2014 Cruze with almost 250k miles, I wanted to go ahead and get a new work vehicle. I beat tf out of my Cruze, I used to change the oil every 15-25k miles. I would attempt to do donuts with it in my yard. I’m going to miss the Cruze but the F150 is so much better.

Looking at buying 2025 F150, 3.5 powerboost. If the hybrid system fails, will the truck still function like a normal gas engine truck?

Recently bought a 2016 f150 XLT. It came with brand new Starfire tires. I had never heard of them so I looked them up and they are about 80 bucks a piece at Walmart. How fucked am I? Do I pull the trigger on new tires now or get a couple years avoiding catastrophe out of these shit tires? Anyone ever heard anything good about Starfire?

I got a ‘19 F150 XLT last year. It still has the original tires (Goodyear Wrangler AT Kevlar) since I got the truck with only 10k miles. Im looking for a new set of tires before winter hits here in the central plains (MO/KS/IA/NE). This truck sees a lot of highway across the county along with dirt and gravel roads when I get out west towards CO. The Goodyears have been decent but I’m looking for a good AT or all season tire for highway and off road use and I greatly prioritize wet weather handling. What are yalls suggestions? I’ve come to terms with the price of the set but budget options are always welcome.

I am looking into replacing my door speakers. Anyone use the kicker key200.4? Seems like a good setup. What speakers should I use? I've heard good things about morel, JL audio, infinity, and kicker cs series. I do not want to put a sub in because it takes up space and is too expensive. I haven't found a decent priced solution for a sub behind the rear seat. I'm looking for better clarity and a little more bass.

2010 F150 Lariat with heated/cooled seats. When heated seats are engaged, lights will stay on for 30-ish seconds with no heat felt and than lights turn off. Seat AC engaged and light quickly turns off.

I replaced the computer module under the driver seat but same symptoms still exist.

Looking for help. Now sure which pins/wires to chance/inspect.

Just got this thing, my first pickup. It has a lift gate and headache rack as I will be using it to move large heavy things for work.

A few things seem like they could be improved upon -

1. The halogen headlights feel quite weak and don’t illuminate as much as I would like at night. I don’t want to just stick LED bulbs in there and blind everyone so was thinking about drop in replacements for the whole housing etc?

2. The reverse lights feel completely non/existent. I can’t see crap backing up at night. Not sure if this is just how it is or if the lift gate is blocking some of the light. I saw some (spartan?) LED lights that attach under the truck - anyone have experience with something like this?

3. Backup camera doesn’t work well because it’s been relocated due to the lift gate and being this low plus not having a rear bumper means there is no part of the truck that is visible in the backup camera to get a frame of reference of where the truck is compared to the environment. Is there any fix for this?

4. Center display feels kinda small but most of the bigger upgrades I’ve seen online seems cheap and not very reliable?

5. The CarPlay port in the center console is two USB A ports. I’d obviously prefer a usb c port but it looks like it’s almost $200 to replace? Seems kinda nuts.

6. Any good dashcam that won’t obstruct view or have wires hanging?

Anyone using premium on the 5.0? Any difference on mpg/performance?
My 2024 is currently getting 15-17 mpg, on 20s A/T around town. Putting premium on a 36 gallon tank would be kinda steep lol. I’m already having to use premium on my 23’ Yukon AT4 with the 6.2 but that one only has a 20 gallon tank.

New into the F150 market and pricing out something in the 2015-2020 range.

With the new engine coming out, what’s the hype on the 2027 models? Should I expect an increase in older model trade ins?

I have a 2016 f150 king ranch with the 5.0 engine and 6 speed transmission I was driving home from work today and got a warning that my engine was over heating and so I pulled over opened the hood and noticed a hose was leaking coolant everywhere and it was smoking I am trying to figure out the part so I can hopefully just replace the clamp or hoses so if you know what part this is that would be great I also added coolant last night after noticing it was low

Thinking of getting a 2016 f150 Lariat/Platinum or 2019 Lariat/platinum. I love everything about the trucks! The thing that’s making me nervous is how they’d fit in a parking garages.

With your guys experiences, do you even bother parking in them? And if so, what is a safe height to enter without having to worry about your truck being too tall?
