[Boyd] - One illegal tackle nearly shattered two careers: ‘It was just a regular football play, man’

WESTFIELD, Ind. — Practice stopped. The music muted. The crowd fell silent.

All that was left were the screams.

Salvon Ahmed’s agony filled the air as he rolled around on the ground at Grand Park in August 2025. The running back’s right ankle was pointed in the wrong direction. It was an injury so gruesome that most of Ahmed’s former Indianapolis Colts teammates turned away once they saw the severity — including the one who caused it.

Guilt rushed over Trey Washington and spilled out in tears streaming down the safety’s face. His tackle, an illegal hip-drop tackle, ended Ahmed’s season, and it also could’ve derailed both of their careers.

I keep getting phone calls and they leave a voicemail saying it is Jamari with the Indianapolis colts

I’ve signed up for a few giveaways and stuff but this seems more like an email thing? Should I call back?

Big Q, JT, Sauce, Raimann, Buckner, Rigoberto(?). The 6th one is the one that is debatable. Even Buckner is debatable with the injuries. Thoughts?

Quality Post Why don’t people give Lou his flowers?

Genuine question: why does it feel like Lou doesn’t get enough credit for what he’s doing?

He held the Seahawks to under 18 points, while being down CB1, CB2, and King Buckner. That’s a pretty ridiculous situation to be dealing with defensively, yet the defense still found a way to keep Seattle under 18.

I feel like if this was almost any other coach/coordinator, people would be talking about how impressive that is.

and i remember everyone gave him shit at the end of game for a field goal he gave up which was due anyway and said fire lou

Free to Read: Colts GM on NFL players going back to college: ‘That’s the stupidest (thing) I’ve ever heard’

College sports are in the midst of turmoil over the eligibility status of players with professional experience. NFL linebacker Jack Pyburn became the most recent face of this debate after the 22-year-old said that returning to LSU for a fifth year of eligibility “was a possibility as a backup option” if he did not make the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 53-man roster.

Pyburn was, in fact, waived by the Bucs on Sunday, but the Kansas City Chiefs claimed the undrafted rookie Monday.

Pyburn’s representative advised him of the possibility a few months ago as the NCAA simplified its eligibility rules, essentially giving every athlete five years to play five college seasons. The change did not, however, apply to fourth-year seniors (such as Pyburn) who had just completed their eligibility under the previous set of rules. That led to a wave of lawsuits from recruits in the 2022 high school class seeking an extra year.

Pyburn was part of a suit filed by 30-plus athletes in Louisiana that won a temporary restraining order allowing them to play in college this academic year. To regain their college eligibility, Pyburn and other players who spent time in NFL camps or on preseason rosters would need to terminate their pro contracts and repay any pro earnings. Pyburn’s deal with the Bucs guaranteed him $115,000, including a $15,000 signing bonus.

Recently, the NFL ruled that rookies who sign a pro contract, are cut and later rejoin college football teams will not be eligible to return to the NFL this season. They are also not permitted to reenter the following year’s draft pool. Those players would be considered free agents who had signed and then been cut.

Last week, Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay was asked a similar question to Ballard about NFL players returning to play in college and said of his confusion, “I feel like I took a freakin’ gummy. I can’t even comprehend this stuff. It’s wild.”

McVay’s comments came on the heels of former Ole Miss tight end Dae’Quan Wright preparing to join LSU following a brief stint in the NFL. Wright spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent before joining the Cleveland Browns.

Shit post Ballard: “I’m not going to go into great detail as to how Keenan was punished internally, but we did make him eat an entire lemon as well as talk like Yoda for a day.”
