Spotted this big black bear leaving our camper spot in the Targhee National Forest. Big boar?

Sorry for the quality, but I thought this was too neat not to share. I was recently up caribou hunting and caught this interacting through my spotting scope. The golden eagle made several apparent passes at the cubs before landing in a spruce where the sow took a swat at it.

I am going camping for 2 weeks north of Stockholm. We will mainly hike around Hamra Nationalpark, Sonfjället Nationalpark and Töfsingdalen Nationalpark.

I read not to be concerned about bears, especially when respecting the go-to guidelines regarding how we should behave. Still: would bear spray - just as a safety backup - be reasonable?

A lot of places online, including the National Park Service, say polar bears (and grizzlies to some extent) have webbed feet. But, visually, how webbed are they? Like ducks? Both bear types always have so much fur on their paws that you can’t see it. Have you ever seen a picture from someone brave enough to shave the fur?

I think my friend is being deceived by the tour.

Came across this momma and her cubs. Tried to snap a few photos. Mom waited till this cub climbed down then they took off. I backed up and tried to give more space as soon, I realized what I walked in too.

10 minutes prior there was a moose and calf running the same way. Sow grizzly was on their scent.

I read online that they eat nests and their fur protects them from the stings except around their face. He was eating the nest then ran off. I always thought they eat honey and bee hives but not wasp nests.

We have both in the area, hard to tell.

Seen in Pemberton, BC. We see a lot of Black bear around here, but this one had a hump.

She likes the dog pool. No swimming that night, though. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Jolly little visitor during lunch

i am writing a letter to our state commission during a comment period to oppose a proposed extension of bear hunting season which usually ends Nov 22 to go another 3+ weeks to Dec 15. aside from the cruelty of hunting bears in general, it is clearly unethical and ecologically disruptive to allow hunting into denning season. it's hard to find information on this subject. i could use some resources or thoughts on how to make a strong argument against this change.
